We are a really streaky area for whatever reason. Long droughts followed by multiple condensed events is far more common than smooth evenly spaced winters. Prob magical thinking but imho, getting a nice event last night is a sign that Fri will work out "ok". My expectations are it will never look worse than 1-3 in general leading in and even though boom ingredients are largely absent, maybe it finds a way anyway just cuz.

The Bob Chill magic is strong this winter

That's what my fed gov office does -- we don't close any more, everyone teleworks today.  Even if we had a blizzard again with several days "closed" we still work.  Good tradeoff with the WFH flexibility we get

Got a touch of frz drizzle coming down now

It's definitely freezing drizzle - spots that I had cleared are SLICK right now on the driveway/walkway. And yes - I really do think that's why my office should do. I'm guessing it's because a few of the secretaries haven't advanced with the technology and are "exempt" from working remotely so to get "everyone" working they just open the office.

3-4 looks like max boom from what I'm seeing. Not sure there's enuff wiggle room for anything bigger. Good thing about the event is it will be instability driven moreso that lift/upgrade. High ratio snow globe potential could bubble up as the upper level stuff moves overhead. If 12z globals all put down an inch or 2 today, we can prob bank on some amount of accum snow

It always makes me feel better when YOU say something like this...but I will never be able to feel locked into snow here this many days out

  4. My office is opening at 10am...trying to pass up the management chain that there is now some freezing rain. Certainly my dead end street has not been plowed (usually one of the last). MCDOT probably will have to bump back out onto main roads for extra treating if it ices up again. With how our users adapted to remote work over COVID...they really should just say it's a remote work day. Nothing stopping folks from going in...24/7 keyfob access...but with kids home why not just say it's fine for everyone to WFH. Rant done.

You can't be serious!  I will take all the rest of my posts to the panic room.  NO snow for the last 2 hours.  I have a light drizzling rain now, and I mean very light!  Where is the snow?

Must be Georgetown, DE...or you've found a portal to another parallel universe. Your obs match nobody else in this forum. Get real. If obs on here were QCed yours would be toast.

Steady light snow in Wheaton,  but despite a good temp of 27 and mid-January, not sticking but it's high noon and tiny flakes.

Is your road treated? It's also the middle of the day. The sun can make it through clouds. Need rates or sun to go down even with 27 degree temps.

  7. Drove from Colesville area over to Potomac/Rockville during the 6am hour. Not terrible but definitely some snow covered spots - especially where tires aren't hitting from traffic. Side roads are pretty much snow covered except where treated. Very pretty! Just wish I wasn't at work today.
