  1. It was mostly a miss for us here in Harford. Some close lightning strikes, even knocked out the power for a few seconds. Nothing like it was in B'more as seen here! NWS Breakdown presentation
  2. Milder summers, milder winters (without snow) what more could someone want? I mean think about it for a minute. Other places you really have to worry about losing your home to a tornado, landslide, earthquake, wildfire, avalanche, softball sized hail, widespread PDS events. Sure in certain places flash flooding and perhaps twice a century tropical. But this area is a bona fide natural disaster free zone! Our insurance rates should be cheaper. Most of the weather impact events in this area are more of inconvenient; i.e. loss of power. If you've ever been in the bullseye of pulse severe, you know that can be a wild ride too.
  3. The food trucks will be serving nothingburgers at that time. Play ball!
  4. And it begins... Tomorrow's daylight is 1 second shorter than today's!
  5. 78/56 Ready for FANTASTIC weather this weekend!
  6. We see the same thing here as well and have experienced 'meh' only to hear the box call siren at our local VFC and find that a tree has come down into someone's home not 1km from ours! So isolated but if you're under it can be hell.
  7. King's Dominion looks to be getting hammered!
  8. 82-83 and 15-16 had epic snow events making up for the rest of the slack!
  9. Just imagine if you washed the car too!
  10. My toe hurts from kicking the can down that road. Eventually we run out of road!
  11. The Hibiscus trees aren't going to be pleased with fifty freedom degrees! I, OTOH, love it!
  12. I see some impressive action but not yet convinced... I see getting stuck with a 4-6-7-10 split and I can only throw my spare ball down the center...
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TReCZ2auRkE
  14. Constant rumbling to our west. Sky is very charged this AM.
  15. Can see frequent flashes 75 miles to our south-southwest from that cell near Lake Ridge. (Seen on tower PTZ not by eyes on ground)
  16. I'll be up to my elbows in axle grease for the shaft with a double nothingburger and quad fries on the side.
  17. This. I cannot count how many times this has happened to me personally. Always have to be on your toes.
  18. I think the table fell over and everything is on the floor at this point. Like most Windows PCs, a table with three legs isn't very stable. ;)
  19. Last few days pretty much as good as it gets, 10/10. Firefly season is ramping up, they're everywhere as expected. Nice gentle breeze, dewpoints in 40s and 50s. If we could do this all summer long, I'd be OK with it. The reality, however, is we have to pay for nice things and really nice things are even more costly. Can't say what the cost will be but y'all know the bill is coming!
  20. That channel is INSANE. We call those gigabolts! Last time I saw something like that was in 2006 and it hit in a cemetery. I did not stick around looking for any skeletons, let me tell you that!
  21. We got a good quarter inch gully washer shower that lasted 5 min. No thunder. MD definitely is boring for weather but (normal) people think that is a GOOD thing!
  22. That stone in the bottom of the last pic looks like a cat!
  23. Those are good units. Not a fan of precharged lines but it's understandable for them to be made to accommodate the DIY crowd. My nearly 40 year old belt drive Sargent-Welch 18 CFM vacuum pump can still pull a 0.005 micron vacuum. And ditto on wood heat! There's just no way to describe the feeling of coming in from outside working or whatever in the snow and propping feet up by a roaring fire! (even though 90% of the time it's hidden in a steel box!)
  24. Which units do you have? I'm curious about this because a few years ago I was indeed told this was possible and I was skeptical but have been out of the trade for 30 years. EDIT: Most of the % of nameplate COP I'm seeing on charts bottoms out at +5F. Perhaps they meant -20 centigrade instead of Fahrenheit! LOL Even still, here in MD it's good enough for me. Wood isn't going anywhere and it's the most comfortable heat bar none.
