  1. I have to say, and I think most of you would agree. What brings me back every year is the love I have for the winter season. Even with all the forecast that come out starting late summer into late fall on what might transpire in the winter ( and as we know they don't always go according to plan ). What's exciting is no one knows when that big one is going to hit or where. But, it will happen, whether it's Eastern New England, Western New England, the Mid-Atlantic or region-wide. Weather in itself is just super exciting. Doesn't matter how old I get, I still love it like I did when I was a kid. I appreciate what everybody has to bring to the table here on this site. That's why I keep coming back. ( Even with the bickering that might happen lol). You guys/gals are a good bunch.
  2. Ended up at 1.41 ( might get another 2 tenths before it ends ). Last night at 1:00 am.. I was sitting at .51"... So got a nice dose from then til. now.
  3. Umm... Maybe it's a subliminal message ( kind of personal though ) lolol
  4. I just heard Tolland will be leveled from the winds. Take shelter immediately! Lol
  5. You kill me..lolol. You always get pumped for some destruction. Lol
  6. Broke down here too. A few years back we got Mini Splits installed in the house in the upstairs bedrooms and also three downstairs on the main floor. It's a great alternative to the oil heat and actually saved us some money already the past few years ( only use the oil heat when it gets super cold to kick in )so with that said, we turnrf them on in the house as it is chilly. It feels so good LOL
  7. I'll give you this, you were right about this weekend. But you made many calls yourself in the winter time where things didn't turn out the way you thought. Point is, sometimes you win sometimes you lose. I do hope it changes and we get the rain. We kind of need it to get out of this drought situation. Fingers crossed
  8. Titan against Titan!!! Oh..wait...sorry... Thought it was the GFS against the EURO... Lol
  9. Well.. It made a landfall.on one of the islands.. Not the mainland.. Second.. It won't lose strength quickly as Florida is so flat with waters still in the Gulf and the Atlantic to draw from.
  10. To those of you who don't realize how scary of a situation this is. My folks, and my brother his wife and their three young girls live in Cape Coral. They're in direct path of the storm. They were not notified of an evacuation until yesterday around 5:00 p.m. and it was too late at that time for them to evacuate. Roads were already flooded.. didn't want to risk driving with sporadic tornadoes. The point is, the evacuations weren't put up for them until late afternoon yesterday. Now they're hunkered down in their home and they're contingency plan is to go into the Attic if the flood waters get too high. For those of you were saying let's go... bring on the storm.. or can't wait to see what kind of damage it does, I tell you to pray instead. I'm one of the biggest Weather Geeks you'll ever find, and I find every storm fascinating and exciting. This time, I'm terrified. They're very responsible people put in a very unfortunate circumstance. And I'm guaranteeing you that most people are in the same shoes as they are. The storm is no joke, and all I'm praying for is that they're safe when this is over. Please pray my friends, please pray for them.
  11. Now THATS the pot calling the kettle black!! I recall last Winter where you were all juiced up hoping for an ice storm, and I had said why would you wish for something that could have severe impacts on us. Lololol. How quickly we forget.
  12. There's a lot of positives as wehead into the fall season with Wimter right around the corner. This is a great read and very encouraging for a strong set up whichnwould give us a great setup here in the northeast ( and.other locations as well ) https://www.severe-weather.eu/global-weather/polar-vortex-early-disruptive-event-winter-influence-united-states-europe-fa/
  13. Man, why would you want to live there. Imagine what those people are going through right now. And if that happened here and all those trees came down, imagine the amount of money time and stress that would cause all of us. Trust me, it's cool to see and I love a big storm, but that damage and what it's doing to people is not cool. If it does come this way and it happens I'll have you come and clean up all the damage for me though .. Lol
  14. Is that what you had been touting all along? ( that would be a good thing FYI ) ;-)
  15. Very interesting read. Wonder what this what bring us back to as far as the Winters go here n the US? https://interestingengineering.com/science/scientists-want-to-spray-sulphur-dioxide-into-the-atmosphere-to-refreeze-the-poles
  16. I disagree. I feel the local forecasters are definitely needed and add more detailed forecasting options that you can't get from the computer models.
  17. Ahhh... It starts already!!! Each new Winter season/ discussion brings back the same ole friction/caddyness!! Lololol
  18. So.. Farmers Alamanac Vs. Old Farmer Alamanac? Both garbage, or does the Old Farmers Almanac have a little more scientific backing to it? https://dailyvoice.com/new-york/whiteplains/weather/old-farmers-almanac-releases-outlook-for-winter-in-northeast/840209/
  19. I found this to be extremely interesting and how it is already affecting the south pole and how it can also make a big impact on the north pole fur this upcoming Winter. We shall see.... https://www.severe-weather.eu/global-weather/cold-anomaly-stratosphere-polar-vortex-volcanic-cooling-winter-influence-fa/
  20. What I'd really like to see is some really good blocking and a nice large Nor'easter moving at a slow clip. I don't think we've had a multi-day nor'easter that hung around in quite some time. And I mean that as far as the northeastern area as a whole. There's been more specific localized areas that have gotten something like this but not the megalopolis. It just feels like everything has been so quick and the storms are in and out, and quick hitting. We're bound to get a blocking pattern to happen again soon. We're overdue.
  21. Although these preliminary forecasts are helpful ( and make sense ) it amazes me how much things tend to change as we progress through the Winter season. That's what keeps, even the most cynical people, holding on by the nails to see how things play out ( and is the reason why I love every new Winter season ). The devil is in the details as they say.
  22. I completely agree. I wouldn't call this Summer "Meh" here either. We've had some serious heat and long duration days over 90. I think we are at our 3rd or 4th best year with over 80 degrees days this Summer already. So... For us at least.. Its been a Scawcha! And the humidity has been oppressive. Just yesterday we had dew points here in Connecticut over 80 ( 81 and 82 in spots ). Thats is almost unheard of here. Its also been very dry. So I am hoping things will and likely could turn the other way as far as precip goes.
  23. Geez .. I'd hate to see how you feel about something more important ... Lolol
