Their intensity/position forecast is in 12 hour intervals. There's time in between the 24 hour fix/strength and when it makes landfall. That's why they note that further strengthening is possible up until landfall after 24 hours

Yep, a 15 mile jog to the NE now could keep the center off the Yucatan, prevents any potential disruption to the circulation, resulting in a possibly stronger system, etc.

Wow what a bust. Full blue sky overhead. Could be a fantastic beach day.

Only 2.14" of rain in the last 2 months (since July 13th). Every reasonable shot of rain, pop-up thunderstorm, anything, has avoided Ocean County between NJ-37 and NJ-72. Bone dry. Lawn is dead. Haven't mowed since June.

-
93.2, dew point at 80.1. Heat Index is 109

Another fantastic day at the beach. 74 here. At home it's 89. 13-18 mph out of the south. Water is cold from all the upwelling
-
73 here at the beach. 92 at home only 3 miles inland

Beach will be the place to be this week. Sea breeze should keep us in the 70s/80s

Sun's trying to pop out. Late afternoon might get interesting if the atmosphere can reload in time.

I'd much rather the morning convection than risk the afternoon sea breeze choking everything off 10 miles from me.

Yup, and the opposite for offshore winds. I remember we had a stretch of a couple weeks in the middle of summer with a west wind. Water temps dropped down into the mid 50s when typically it should be around 72-74. The water was so clear, it was like the Carribean

Pesky fog lingering around at the beach. It's going to be gorgeous. If only the water wasn't 51 degrees

Starting off at 24. Bird bath is frozen.
-
Still about 90% sunshine here. Up to 73. Wildfires sparking in Wharton State Forest
-
It's gorgeous out. Full sun. Up to 70
-
Definitely possible if we trend drier. Also tend to be a little warmer than guidance once the sun's out. Nightfall, especially by me, the sugar sand loves to radiate off throughout the night. Could see mid 20s. Good shot at a 50 degrees temperature change.
-
Back to back lows of 27 here.
-
Started off at 27. Radiational cooling doing its thing in the Pine Barrens. Probably get to around 60 before the inevitable sea breeze pushes in. Good to see the sun out again
-
Reached 84 yesterday. Up to 74 from 47 this morning.
-
Nice thunderstorm around 3:30 AM. Serious wind gusts too. Island Beach State Park peak gust of 64 MPH.
-
Balmy 68 here. Dew point up to 63. Getting breezy.

Bummer for yesterday. I had a family friend offer me a place to stay at their property in Maine, but luck would have it that I developed a sinus infection coupled with bronchitis on Sunday. The medication makes me feel drowsy, so there was no way I was going to drive nine hours by myself. To add insult to injury, cloud cover spoiled the chance to see the crescent sun here at home. I'll have to wait another 21 years to watch it with my family in Florida—provided it's not submerged by then. On a positive note, today is looking gorgeous. Widespread 70s, somewhere inland will hit 80. afternoon sea breeze could dampen the enjoyment at the beaches, but I'm planning to soak up some much-needed vitamin D.
