  1. Wettest day here in two months. Knocked a bunch of leaves off. Looks like we are just past peak here.
  2. Thanks for sharing that link. It was really interesting to go back and read the weather records from Fort Anthony/Snelling in those early days. 1820 to the present is a very impressive weather record for our part of the continent. My home is only a couple miles from the historic fort location, I’m sure there was settler activity right on my property during those days.
  3. Nothing else going on so might as well post this fantasy storm that will be gone tomorrow.
  4. Looks like we did indeed have an official freeze in Minneapolis this morning.
  5. Backyard weather sensor got down to 30.4F last night. The official airport obs bottomed out at 33F. Heavy frost on the grass so I am going to go ahead and call this the first freeze of the season imby.
  6. I love the chill. Perfect outdoor sleeping weather. Got out and did a nice hike in Crosby-Manitou state park. Was the first real hike my wife has done since getting a new ACL back in May. Like you said probably a little past peak but coming from down south it sure seemed vibrant.
  7. Camping up in Finland Minnesota tonight. Paging @Brian D. It is already down to 35F with a chance of snow showers overnight. Fantastic colors on the drive up. Along the lakeshore elevation ~600’ colors seem to be peaking but up the hill where we are camping ~1350’ it’s a few days past peak for sure.
  8. Low of 36 imby. High clouds kept us from really bottoming out. Grand Marais Minnesota reporting their first snow of the season yesterday.
  9. We are the same age and I feel the same way. Staring out the window is better then any other form of entertainment
  10. Congrats bo. Can’t say I’m not jealous central mn might see some flakes mix in tomorrow night.
  11. 53 outside, if we can clear the skies tonight might have some frost on the ground in the morning. Outside the metro a hard freeze looks likely.
  12. Looks like lake effect snow showers off Superior tomorrow into Friday.
  13. Duluth is currently reporting a temperature of -1F. I think its time for a new sensor. First flakes might be a possibility across Northern Minnesota next week.
  14. And another morning of record lows across the northland.
  15. Low of 37 imby. Squirrels really active. Looks like a widespread freeze outside the UHI.
  16. Low of 43 imby last night and the smoke has returned
  17. Same here. Nice to see blue sky again. Don’t think we have any frost potential but should drop into the upper 30s
  18. Local weather office thinking the same possibility around here as well.
  19. Another morning of an otherworldly sunrise due to the thick smoke. Really hope tonight’s cold front can push it out
  20. I’ll take a cutter pattern all winter. Usually means we cash in or are stuck in nice cold arctic air during a Madison special. Either one is better then a Fargo special which will probably happen from time to time too.
  21. Isn’t there some sort of irrigation/watering system in place? I’m a fan of native wildflowers/grasses instead of turf lawn myself. Save the pollinators.
  22. Low of 37 last night in the city. Many of the 3rd ring suburbs got down below freezing and have frost. Very foggy this morning as well.
  23. Unfortunately we bagged a few 5min obs of 50 degrees which will be our high today before the rain moved in. Currently 47 and dropping.
  24. Here’s the coldest airport obs I can find across Minnesota. Looks like a season ending freeze across the northland. Frost advisories for the Twin Cities and points north tonight. I can’t recall an earlier winter headline that I’ve been under before. I remember being in Iowa with my parents to see general Wesley Clark speak in September 2000 and there being a frost risk not sure the date or what type of advisory was posted. Virginia MN: 29 Cook MN: 28 Bigfork MN: 27 Bemidji MN: 28 Ely MN: 27
