  1. Same story here, blew through quick and with wind. I’d guess half an inch of actual accumulation but in some places the sidewalk is bare and other spots have 3”
  2. Clipper #1 started about 10min ago locally. Dust on crust already.
  3. Return flow on the backside of the high kept us from really dropping off last night. Only got down to -8. Clipper train starts this evening.
  4. -10 in Minneapolis last night. Torched to 3 above this afternoon.
  5. Yep im a Geologist/Environmental Scientist for a large engineering and testing firm in the cities. Outside collecting and analyzing samples at job sites most days. I travel all over the state. I’m pleasantly surprised how well I’ve acclimated to negative temperatures. Still Brrrrr. Clipper train here over the weekend. First two look like dust but the third might be more impactful.
  6. Bottomed out at -1 this morning. Not much of a recovery today with a high of 4 above, and a struggle to make above zero tomorrow!
  7. Down to 19 now with CAA in full swing. We won’t make it out of the low single digits tomorrow or Thursday.
  8. Overachieved to a high of 43 today and lost about 2” of snow depth. The cold front just barreled through and we’ve dropped 8 degrees the past hour to 35.
  9. Weirdly enough same here. 28.5” on the season and we average 56”
  10. 6pm update 3.7” at the Airport 4.6” at the NWS office Final total might add another tenth or so but this should about wrap it up. Very pleased with how this event turned out imby. Snow depth back up to 7” with 28.5” season to date.
  11. Minneapolis is ending up on the winning side of the sharp eastern cutoff. 2.6” as of noon which was the upper forecasted amount. The heaviest snow of the event moved in around noon and is just wrapping up now so I think 4-5” will be around where we end up.
  12. Snow started shortly after 5 this morning. Well ahead of the 8-9am start time pegged by the nws.
  13. Been super busy with work and family life the past week and haven’t had time to visit this weather board….but man am I sweating the gradient tomorrow. The NWS official forecast for Minneapolis is 1-5” and I gotta say that’s probably about as refined as you can get with the eastern cutoff basically imby. Hoping to get at least an inch to make up for the snow that melted/compacted yesterday. 2” would be great, while those on the west end of Lake Minnetonka probably end up with 5”
  14. -17 as I took the dog out before leaving for work. Couple hours of radiational cooling left to go.
  15. Waited to hear from Bo, looks like he got a couple feet of snow.
  16. Daytime high of -4 in Minneapolis. Tonight we make a run at -20.
  17. About 2” of very powdery snow fell overnight and today along with strong northerly winds and falling temperatures. Days like today and tomorrow make me question why I choose a career where I work outside.
  18. I’ve got blizzard warnings south and north of me. Not sure I’ve ever seen that before.
  19. Minneapolis is further from Chicago then Columbus….just sayin
  20. This has been a fun thread to follow. Congrats all. We don’t typically get rates like that in the upper Midwest. Sucks snow doesn’t have much staying power down there.
  21. -15F at the airport and -18F at the NWS office for the morning low. -30s up in central/northern Minnesota this morning
  22. -11 at the 11:53pm obs which will go down as the New Year’s Day low. Will be interesting to see if we make a run at -20
  23. Latest obs at the airport are -8. TNT needs to keep with the most up to date weather obs.
  24. Midnight high of +1 and a daytime high of -5 to start 2022. Coldest NHL game in the modern era starts in 30min at Target Field in downtown Minneapolis. It’s already -8
