I've already gone through a couple gallons of oil spray to kill their nests and have a lot more to go. In rebuilding our stone walls I found lots on the underside of stones. We have a couple trees in our yard I'm getting worried about.
Shipyard Pumpkinhead has been available since the beginning of August at many liquor store. Fall beers are like Christmas, every year the stuff is out earlier.
We drove down to my wife's parents house last night and Rt. 21 to Ludlow had a surprising number of trees starting to go. The upper foot or so of burning bushes along driveways too.
Where were the high wind warnings for these 15 mph gusts? Multiple trees down in Amherst/Belchertown area. Saw a couple of cops out directing traffic. Is the ground just that soggy?
The breeze is already here is pretty fantastic. A fairly consistent 10-15 mph breeze makes you forget about a 70* DP . Looking forward to some afternoon yard work.
Took advantage of the cool temps the past week and planted some tall fescue around my new creek bed about 10-12 days ago. Amazing how quickly and full it comes up. This week will be a test. It only receives about 3-4 hours of sun a day so that will hopefully help.
Yup. So much clearing the past few years the whole mountain has become a massive glade. Hopefully this year the November-December invert doesn't push back opening too much.
Marinas/boat launches around the Oxbow were closed a couple weekends ago for safety due to all the drift wood. We went over the river in Northampton this after noon and saw no boats but lots of drift wood.
So ready...
Nothing wrong with a wide ski for everyday (I do like going mid 90s when it is super hard pack). I run homemade skis that are 110 underfoot for my every day skis . IMO its all about the rocker and camber in bumps and not so much size.
And when the sun is out it has generally been too hot to enjoy the outdoors. I got heat exhaustion (always kind of figured it was a joke) last week while working on a landscaping project, not something I ever want again.
No rain but some decent wind today keeping it somewhat pleasant. Weather has the fish all messed up. Caught a massive walleye in 2' of 82* water from under a dock today.
