  1. What is SB? I am in western Norwich. I think this is the closest station: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KVTSHARO1?cm_ven=localwx_pwsdash It says .22 overnight. This looks like a new station: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KVTNORWI10 I am about halfway in between. It says .20 overnight.
  2. Yeah, we actually got a decent rainfall overnight!
  3. PF- I keep thinking that the stones in your shots the past few days is snow. Someone in Norwich does regular drone flyovers movies, he did one for the foliage yesterday.
  4. Radar seems to show a couple of very light showers heading in your direction but may not make it that far.
  5. I was joking in case it wasn't clear and agree with much of what you said. (FWIW until the ground freezes I would rather spend my free time moving rocks on our land than be inside and once the snow hits there are remarks made that I spend too much time hand shoveling our 110 yd driveway.
  6. It is a shame your house did not come with a large tank of some sort that held water into which you could have jumped occasionally.
  7. It does depict many weekends I have had since moving to our current house. Who knew a crowbar would be so helpful a tool for clearing flower and veg beds!
  8. People had nothing else to do back then so they may as well work 90 hours a week until they died of old age at 32.
  9. Low was 30 here this morning after 32 yesterday.
  10. 41 here. I have tarps over many plants outside and brought a few in. Hopefully we can get some things past the next couple of nights to enjoy some of the annuals a little longer.
  11. Went out for a run. Out and back but somehow the wind was in my face the whole way.
  12. Well we have already had such ferocious sounding names as "Kyle" "Sally" "Teddy" and, scariest of all, "Nana" so far this year.
  13. I just remember it as the year that Maryland got 70 inches total in 3 snows while in Peacham I got 3 inches total in 70 snows.
  14. Heat's on. (Further proof that I do not control the thermostat in our house) And building on this mornings question- why is it thermo-stat but not thermo-meter?
  15. We have a forced hot water system with an oil burner so we can't shut off the heat without losing the hot water too. We just turn the thermostat down to as low as it will go. 37F as I left the house this morning. I forgot to see if it had been lower at some point but I doubt it as it was 39 when I got up. No sign of frost at the house but saw some pockets of it on the drive in to the office. Lowest I saw on the car thermometer was 36. On an unrelated topic- why is it pronounced ther-mom-eter and not thremo-merter when it is reading heat levels?
  16. If you perform like I did in Peacham with a similar mid-hill location, you may find you are cooler than the radiators right after a frontal passage if the wind stays up enough to prevent settling. And yesterday when I said not to be surprised if it snows in September, I mean don't be shocked to see flakes and snow up on the mtns but don't go expecting accumulations at your spot. That would be the surprise.
  17. In my Vermont years, I have had snow in every month but July and August. (not each year mind you) In our 4 years in this house we have had accumulating snow in October in 2 of the 4 years and seasonal pack started as early as Nov 13. You should not be surprised to occasionally see snow in late Sept at your location.
  18. This would stop Phineas from complaining about the heat of Northern New England.
  19. https://w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KBJC.html 3 day history though there is a gap overnight last night.\ Meanwhile up here, the pool got drained and taken down this weekend. I planted 5 plum trees last weekend which has promptly put an end to the rainy stretch we were in. Lots of watering about to have to happen.
  20. Is a dream a lie if it don't come true or is it something worse?
  21. Poor man wants to be rich Rich man wants to be king A king ain't satisfied til he rules everything I want to go out tonight and find out what I got.
  22. Two big signs of fall today: 1. a v-shaped flock of geese flying south over the Connecticut 2. The hills are starting to get a tint of color to them and a few red/orange branches are popping out here and there.
