  1. The potential huge difference from the Upper Valley to S NH reminds me of a storm in the 98 to 01 time frame. My memory is that it ended on the 23rd because my parents were driving up for Christmas. We had very little in VT but I had to go to court in Manchester NH for a hearing first thing in the morning. When I got there it was snowing 4+ inches an hour and the city was a ghost town. The federal courthouse was closed and the roads in the middle of the city all had 6+ inches on them so I went to the Mall of NH to ride it out. 90 minutes and 6 more inches later the snow stopped. Manchester got 17". Does anyone remember this storm and know the year? Is it an analog for this?
  2. On the plus side, if today's 12 Z NAM verifies instead of yesterday's. I don't have to spend all dat Sunday shoveling.
  3. Watching it sleet and rain as we were living in RI until August of that year.
  4. I know it is odd but in 20ish seasons, VT I have never gotten a storm give me over 20 inches. In this house 4 years, we have topped out at 19 inches. Granted that was within 4 days of another 18 inch storm. In Peacham for 7 seasons but we never topped 18 inches and we were prone to occasional shadowing from the Whites. Sure a couple of times I had measurable snow for 15+ straight days but most of the time it was snow globe events that only added up due to their frequency. Biggest storms I have been in topped out about 22 or 23 inches in CNJ in 83 and 96. I didn't keep records from when I lived in C VT from 92 to 02 but my memory does not have me topping 20 inches. In 3/93 for instance, we got 17" . With the NAM, it has me at 13'" at 84 hrs but cranking and the downstream numbers would indicate that we would get much more in the 12 hours after. It is moot but, yeah, I don't think I have ever topped 23 inches. Most winters, however, a SREF plume will give me 40+ at some point- if only.
  5. Were the NAM to verify, it could end up being the biggest snowfall I have experienced. I do not expect this to happen.
  6. The snow line was about 4 or 5 miles to the west of me. Snow on the ground most of the way to Rutland after that. Nothing at our place.
  7. The lack of inappropriate responses to this post shows how people here have matured over the past few years.
  8. Was it 2015 when the high on July 4th was lower in parts of NE than it was on Christmas?
  9. Are those Nachos? They look like artichokes to me. (to the right of the green olives) I see no Nachos.
  10. Seems reasonable to me to ask. Vermont requires vaccinations for kids to go to school so why not ask if they have engaged in the sort of behavior the government is asking Vermonters not to do this weekend because the Vermont data the govt is relying on is showing that 70% of the cases are occurring here due to such gatherings. If the parents are going to not follow the State guidance, they have at least been given fair warning that they should keep the kids home or have 5 days to train them how to lie when asked.
  11. A nice solid dusting at our place this morning.
  12. About 20 years ago we were having our first Thanksgiving in our then house. We tried a Tofurkey, which is supposed to take about 2 hours to cook. We had double wall ovens and had the Tofurkey in the one we had used less often. Within about 25 minute,s the outside was burned to a crisp. Tough , dry Tofurkey made for a bad centerpiece to the meal. We had a repairman come out the next week. He told us that oven's thermostat was shot and it likely got to about 900 f inside ( I find that hard to believe but it is what he through out there.) We turned that oven into storage and just used the other. I have not had Tofukey since.
  13. 10 Vermont counties get Federal disaster status due to the drought: https://www.sevendaysvt.com/OffMessage/archives/2020/11/17/drought-disaster-declared-for-10-vermont-counties

  15. With the picture sideways, I thought you house was on fire. I'm glad to see it was just snowmaking.
  16. Does anyone have a prediction on how much longer we will be restricted from going in stores unless we are wearing shoes and a shirt? I prefer to be topless and unshod when selecting my food at the grocery store. What is the point of Fritos if you don't have Free Toes?
  17. Map is still being made though it has been over-ridden. Currently only 2 VT counties (Rutland and Franklin) would meet the safe to travel criteria set at 400 active cases per 100k and Rutland now has a nursing home outbreak so I doubt it will continue to meet the level for long. Only two counties, 1 in Maine and 1 in NY would still meet the "safe to travel" limit. Map can be found here: https://accd.vermont.gov/covid-19/restart/cross-state-travel?wpmobileexternal=true
  18. Do you know that they increased the quarantine requirements again? You have to quarantine for 7 days at home and then have a negative test or quarantine for 14 days. https://www.healthvermont.gov/covid-19/travel-quarantine/visitors-vermont
  19. I believe President Trump said he would support this during the campaign and some states have enacted it as state level holiday this year.
  20. It would feel weirder if I had my normal sense for what day or month it is. I have been home way too often this year to always know what day of the week it is.
  21. Cartoon looks familiar: Shorter but not the lowest quality video on the net like the above:
  22. This happened on both of our cars this year. With both it was only 2 or 3 days until the snows were going on and things looked fine so I assumed it was the cold.
