  1. Was the wind's strength why the camera was always moving around? I was getting dizzy watching this. Wind for us maxed at about what I think is shown in this video. We were lucky and did not lose power at all which was surprising as prone as we are to power interruptions. Only blow downs were some tomato plants. (Same as with Irene interestingly enough) Even my broken maple which is snagged on other trees remained in its mostly upright position.
  2. He is in Tolland- they lose their power on a weekly basis. They probably will be without power and grilling everything in their freezers by noon.
  3. That would probably cause damage in Tolland.
  4. Sadly I was driving and did not have a camera with me. When we used to live in Peacham our house had long range views to the east down towards the CT River Valley and rainbows were a common sight for us. Now we are in a tight, mostly wooded valley so the trees usually block them at the house.
  5. Last night on the drive home from Rutland, I hit a downpour just to the east of Killington. After a couple of minutes I was out of it and the sun was soon out. The storm was going east at about the same rate I was. I was driving looking at one of the most intense colored rainbows I have seen lately. It was seldom a full arc but fantastic. The drive was beautiful with the late evening sun, the low white clouds in parts of the dark green forested valleys and the intensive contrast of the dark storm, spots of blue skies. 35 miles of bliss, the rainbow was still going when I got home. Signs of some washouts on the dirt roads near home and miraculously the broken maple caught up above the parking area at my house was still held by the other trees. I need that hurricane to come and save me some work.
  6. We have a colonial with a center staircase. With a window fan in one upstairs window opposite the front door, the cool air really works its way in for us. The elevation, early shade, and early sunset really help prevent the house getting too hot as well. So far that week in early July 2018 has easily been the worst in our 4 years in this house.
  7. After abandoning the sweater look, Powder Freak started wearing 70's suits and was elected mayor of Amity- which means friendship.
  8. It was 59 at the house when I went for my run at 5:15. Ran with a long sleeve tech shirt on.
  9. It looks like we have another line getting going here for CVT and NVT.
  10. Does the moose not know the need to have a mask while hiking for when you need to share the trail? Good thing you socially distanced yourself.
  11. Iowa Environmental Mesonet https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/plotting/auto/?_wait=no&q=84&sector=VT&src=mrms&opt=per&usdm=no&ptype=g&sdate=2020%2F07%2F01&edate=2020%2F07%2F23&cmap=RdBu&dpi=100&_fmt=png or In Ear Monitor if you are on a Springsteen bootleg site.
  12. I went from missing the first three storms by less than 5 miles to being grazed by the 4th to the 5th and 6th merging over me and getting water in the basement. My small pond went from nearly empty to full in an hour. I got a few grumbles of thunder but mostly with #3 which missed. No wind to speak of so my hung up maple still has not fallen all the way yet.

  14. Not to give too much away but I have on good authority that the focus of the movie will be on family. The story will focus on a woman (probably going back to her hometown for the holidays). She will meet a potential love interest- maybe even a former flame. Sadly there will be a misunderstanding and it appears that they will never get past it. Phew, they connect at the end just in time for Christmas morning to find that Santa has brought love and a puppy. Sadly Santa took the first batch of rain just to my south. Hopefully some showers for the garden later.
  15. Yeah, I had a typo. I put "not" instead of "now". Digger used to be a place where the comments were helpful and often included people who were involved in the story or policy makers. Then the CAX crowd moved in. For a paper with a leftist slant, the comments had a very right wing slant. It was rather incongruous.
  16. My favorite one is the person who moved here to get away from people from out of state. Kettle meet pot. In all seriousness, why do you check those pages? It just seems depressing and angering. Every now and then I would read the WCAX comments and quickly be reminded at how nasty the world can be. They shut down the comment eventually and those folks moved to VT Digger who have now shut their comments. It is brutal but is sometimes just the same ten names over and over. Enjoy your summer and enjoy Killington and stay off Facebook.
  17. Doubled your seasonal total for 19-20?
  18. 85/69 at KLEB already compared to 82/66 at the same time yesterday when it hit 96. I guess that is what you get when working off a of 73 instead of 60.
