  1. Oh GFS, you're so naughty with your western ridges, blocking, and banana highs.
  2. I imagine these storms were commonplace in the Gulf during parts of previous ice ages.
  3. Off topic, but that Tuesday-Wednesday storm would be historic. GGEM putting down a foot all to way to the Louisiana Gulf.
  4. Probably still time for models to incrementally drive the energy into the system in successive runs. But can't afford any steps back at this point.
  5. Confluence in the northeast really might be the key player. If the northern plains energy doesn't slow down and get forced south, this thing won't bomb out. Same issue on CMC.
  6. I'm going to have to go ahead and agree with you there.
  7. What a bomb! That second shortwave dives in just in time.
  8. The big key was getting that northwest energy to not run out ahead of the SW low. That seems locked in now, as it actually fell in on the west side -- though it still got pinched off and left behind. The next piece of energy dropped in a little later than 18z through the Dakotas.
  9. Northern energy now falling in BEHIND the SW energy.
  10. Looks like the northern energy is initially further north and faster.
  11. Looks like Bousquet in the background.
  12. Somewhat off topic, but this is intriguing. https://www.barrons.com/news/google-says-ai-weather-model-masters-15-day-forecast-cdc5793d
  13. 7 in Lenox so far. Not too shabby.
