It's in the Southern Hemisphere isn't it? Much less effects for us
-
could this storm cut so far west that we actually miss out on the heaviest rains and get into a big dry slot?

isn't this similar to those big storms they get on the west coast....high elevation snow and windy rains for the coast

I wouldn't be surprised if eastern sections spiked into the 50s

Not necessarily-- if it's too cold it means a suppressed storm track. We want average cold.

Looks like the AO/NAO are both going down Don? Should be good for snow after the 20th?

"No intelligent life found on this planet" zoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom!

"we have to hope precip comes in quicker than modeled" means nothing to me, just like in the 80s as now, I absolutely hated snow changing to rain storms and I would MUCH rather it be ALL rain with nothing frozen whatsoever. There's no point in wanting any snow at all with a storm like this.

if it really meant business it would be strong enough to muscle its way on over and hit us

winds are gusty here already

That Atlantic City had a foot plus snowstorm and we did not irks me to no end. You said we might be looking at historic cold at the end of the month-- what are snowfall prospects around that time?
-
I guess if you get far enough north you dont have much of a risk of cutting storms. I was thinking of Minneapolis.
-
Yep and even if there is a snowstorm, unless it's a foot plus, the snow never really accumulates on the streets.
-
Maybe it will be good in the long term, more areas with vegetation so more land to farm. Hey, we have to look at the positives since we can't really control this anymore.
-
that 850 low is really annoying, it's why I like vertically stacked systems so you don't need to worry about it

maybe even go below zero? fwiw so much cold air is actually a bad sign for snow and indicates suppression. we want normal cold air not the extreme stuff

The question is, the latest generation of WHAT?!

This area is a thread the needle kind of region. You don't see this kind of shit happening in the Midwest.

Easier for you to move to the Great Lakes. NYC is such a huge city for a reason....if it had a snowier climate like those cities do, a lot fewer people would live in NYC.
