Thanks man that's greatly appreciated! She would have been utterly shocked at the big winters we had starting with 93-94 and 95-96 and even more so from 02-03 onwards...I never got to experience any of that during my grade school days. She would have loved it too, we used to take long walks in the snow (when we did get snow) when she was going through her lupus flareups, it really helped her.

I sympathize, my mom passed away at the age of 44, when I was only 16. That happened during a horribly sucky time for winter weather (the early 90s)

I hope they measured by 7 am, that report was late in coming lol. Also it's weird that NYC records 0.4 and JFK records 0.2 when the more south and east you went, the more snow there was. That 0.2 is probably much more accurate than the 0.4 figure was.

ha you haven't lived on the south shore of Long Island. I think that's happened a few times. We don't get zero rainfall but sometimes it's just a few sprinkles

I always thought that 69 inches measurement from 1995-96 was highly suspect, no one was below 70 inches that winter and most were above 80 inches.

Look up 1966-67 and how long that season was, into deep March and even April and May From a Xmas eve snowstorm to near 0 in March with heavy snow lol and a blizzard in February in between. 1966-67 and 2002-03 were two of the most underrated awesome winters

You know what they did. The liquid equivalent was 0.04 so they just did a straight 10:1 and came up with 0.4...it's not the first time that's happened.

Thanks Don, 1950 also had the most 50+ highs I think. Do you have snowfall totals from JFK, did they break their snowless streak and set a new record too?

Oh California has those too. I'm not sure the Florida beaches are all that clean =\ (not sure about Cali beaches being clean either to be fair.)

This is very true. We'll have another party when we measure the first 1.0" lol To show how little this is, there's a construction crew outside right now drilling on my street. They never do this in bad weather.

It puzzles me how JFK also only measured a T for that event when it was clearly a half inch 4 miles to the east of there. I wonder what JFK measured in this storm....where is the PNS for this event?

It reminds me of the old days when we had max/min thermometers that had red dyed liquid and blue dyed liquid for each end and saved the max/min readings. The last time I saw one of those was back in the 80s....

omg Forky is going to throw a parade. They started doing some drilling last week on my block and I thought they'd take a break for the bad weather but they're back again this morning and sounds like a construction site ugh, my house is shaking.

Exactly! There was more snow than this here in December! What was the JFK measurement? Wow they started construction here again! omg! The drilling! Not even taking a break in the snow and cold lol.
