There's literally just one way to get anywhere on the south shore from the city and the Van Wyck is packed even on less busy days. The only time the drive was a breeze was during the early part of the pandemic.

I do but the drive back and forth to Long Island is horrendous. I want a better location in NY where the drive is easier (doesn't take 3 hours). The most frustrating part is it takes just 2 hours to get to the city and another whole hour to get to western Long Island.

Oh I like it. and driving on Long Island is ----HORRENDOUS---- I might consider that as a second home too, as it's probably easier than going from the Poconos to Long Island

The only Asia song I know is the one that keeps playing over and over again in that Supernatural episode where they're stuck in a time loop and keep dying over and over again. Really good song!

Don can you confirm the high was 50 today? And the low will likely be either 33 or 34 and probably won't hit 32 until 2 am? Also which of our official spots still have their snowless streaks going? Just NYC and JFK? Thanks!

Now they're saying the high was 50 at NYC, so it's the 4th straight day to hit 50 and that closes out the month.

Some horrible person decided to take a pigeon and color it pink using a dye and the sickly bird was brought in to an animal rescue where it was nursed back to health. The bird couldn't fly and couldn't fend for itself and needed to be rescued. The theory is this dimwitted person did it for a "gender reveal" party. This reminds me of the dimwit who set off fireworks that started a massive wildfire for a gender reveal party in California a couple of years ago. All gender reveal parties should be BANNED. No one cares what your offspring is, keep it to yourself and stop damaging the environment with your egotistical need to brag about being a breeder.

Looks like the record for fewest 32 degree or lower mins for January will also fall. The split today was 49/34 and the temperature isn't projected to reach 32 until 2 AM tomorrow so it looks like 3 days of 32 or lower mins is going to be the new record, along with the warmest January on record. Projected avg mean is 43.5

Yes there was some light snow most of the day it looked really nice coming down.

Goldberg thinks chances of measurable are 20-30% and said that the timeframe for snow is from 3 AM to 5 AM with the snow fighting dry air but still says a quarter inch is possible.

Aside from the temperatures warming, the new normal is a couple of seasons of good snowfall intermixed with several seasons of really bad snowfall, with perhaps one or two "normal seasons" tossed in. This season isn't the new normal, it's an extreme, but it's an extreme worse than any other extreme has been. Last season is probably closer to what the new normal will look like. LOL ABC just came out with a "study" that climate change could enhance the chances of a fungi pandemic that will mutate humanity. haha

The warmer deviations are actually coming from the north (not from the south)...have a look at how much seasonal temperatures have warmed in northern Vermont-- it's something like 5.5 - 6 degrees of warming. Because it's a warmer version you're seeing less snow and more reliance on single large events for more of your seasonal snowfall, so more of a chance of completely striking out per winter when that doesn't work out.

I think you're wishing and hoping because you love snow so much you forget how bad climate change is becoming and how much worse it will get and in very short order. March 2012, then December 2015 and now January 2022, we'll see how soon the next one happens, I'm betting on 5 years or less.

This is why 19-20 and that so-called "snowless" streak of 332 days is not even anywhere in the ballpark of what we have going on now. That said, it's been snowing for several hours now (granted, it's light snow lol) and it would be ironic if we had an unbroken stretch of snow from this morning to tomorrow morning and it somehow still ended up being a T lol.

Yeah but I don't believe they "die" they just go into hibernation and as soon as it gets warm again back they come. And especially if it rains a lot which is why we're told to spray all standing water to make sure we kill their larvae dead.
