  1. again I dont get this need to compare this to 97-98, as of now they are equally bad but no one besides you even cares about 97-98 lol
  2. I would classify anything at under 10 inches as just awful and in the lowest possible category.
  3. lol the snowfall total this year is exactly the same as 97-98 and I dont understand why 97-98 became the bar for anything, it wasn't even the least snowiest winter, but it was a complete failure and so is this winter, not just for us, but for the entire nation.
  4. NYC will probably not avoid it and neither will most of the rest of us on the coast. You are in CT-- a completely different climate from us.
  5. of course you can complain the last two winters have sucked Comparing this to 97/98 is like saying I failed the test but at least I scored higher than the kid who also failed, but with a lower score.
  6. Yeah no one on the coast saw more than 5 inches. You had to be at least 10 miles away from the water for that.
  7. It's so incredibly windy tonight, that storm must still be strengthening well offshore.
  8. oh wow, I thought it would have been the late 90s, but it looks like the early-mid 50s had that beat.
  9. I wonder what the elevation is in this area? Northern location plus some elevation definitely plays a role in marginal setups plus there's sound enhancement too.
  10. the elusive long island max average seasonal snowfall is likely within that circle somewhere
  11. Was it compaction though or was it melting? Because I saw puddles of water when the snow lightened up around 11 am and the sky brightened up.
  12. Some people don't like the guy, but at least he has guts and he's outspoken.
  13. Don, weren't the 50s almost a perpetual el nino state until the 1955-56 la nina? I think 1955-56 was another one of those la nina after el nino scenarios very hot summer followed by a snowy winter.
  14. Thanks, I see this is why people are saying, we have one more snow event in all likelihood and that will be it for the winter. Next Saturday.....
  15. Don when do you see the unseasonably mild pattern coming back? And dry too? Around the 24th? And do you see that continuing into March?
  16. colder? day time event? quick mover too I see.
  17. the east wind ruined it for them, they're too close to the ocean.
  18. wow 1784 was the gift that kept on giving lol
  19. Yeah I was a little shocked to see all those huge puddles when snowfall rates slowed down after 11 am lol. The funny thing was at JFK it was 32 for six straight hours and then at the end of the storm as soon as the temperature creeped up to 33, it started melting.
  20. Thanks, at least JFK, ISP and EWR seem right in line with expectations. The LGA number seems a little low to me too but the NYC seems to be even more so. I take it the snow at EWR was drier?
  21. Yep, and it was announced by Lee Goldberg during his 5:20 PM broadcast.
  22. announced on WABC TV at 5:20 PM 8.7 inches Islip had the same number as JFK -- 4.2 inches. I found that interesting.
