  1. Amazing how bad the ice storm has been in Howard, western Baltimore, Carroll and NW Montgomery counties. Closing in on ~100 reports and ~15k w/o power.
  2. HR 180 on the 12z Euro OP is a ridiculous CAD signature...ice storm signal? Large sprawling high pumping NNE air down east of the mountains too.
  3. Warning extended until 7pm for the northern zones...advisory extended until 4pm. Still getting reports of trees coming down in northern Montgomery and western Howard.
  4. Going to be interesting if we drop back below freezing tonight in the areas that are currently under a warning. With some wind expected tomorrow it could cause another round of wires/trees going.
  5. RIP, western Baltimore and Howard counties. Power outages creeping up there each hour.
  6. Rt. 94 in Lisbon closed due to multiple trees down at several locations.
  7. Howard County fire probably has dispatched ~30 calls related to ice/wires/transformers today.
  8. Power outages really jumping now in Howard, Baltimore and Montgomery counties.
  9. Latest SPC mesoanalysis shows 925 mb 0° line running well south of DC. This will likely promote a continuation of freezing rain in the normally prone areas of the subforum through midday.
  10. Getting a steady number of wires/transformer calls in the northern half of Montgomery County.
  11. I'd love to experience a REAL ice storm even if I lose power for a week. Seeing ZR with temps in the low 20s would be sweet. I came close once when I lived in New Salem, PA during the '13 - '14 winter. We had about 0.5" ZR and lost power for half a day. The countryside was so beautiful and still.
  12. M0.2" zr in Reisterstown when I left this morning at 6:30. The pine trees on my property looked like they were about to give up and the roads in my neighborhood were terrible. Even my Subaru had a hard time at intersections. It was unusually icy in Laytonsville as well...I measured 0.15" ZR on Howard Chapel Rd and there were some tree branches (deciduous and coniferous) that had come down on power lines in Laytonsville actually. We probably missed a legitimate ice storm in Maryland by about 3 or 4 hours had we not gotten than lull in precip last night.
  13. Per SPC mesoanalysis, the 925 mb 0° line is now working towards I-66...meanwhile the 850mb 0° line is lifting a bit north...just north of I-70. Really a nowcast event tonight.
  14. Per LWX, M4.8" 2W Bel Air, Harford County. Would like to see this precip fill in a bit to our south.
  15. Just about all snow now...accumulating on everything except the salted main roads. Temp exactly at 32 degrees.
  16. We are on the bare bottom of the NW Baltimore zone so I'd agree with you. However we probably can sneak out a storm total of 5". I'm already at 3" storm total and my snow board is cleaned off.
  17. Snow really starting to mix in now. Big fat flakes. I'd say 70/30 sleet snow mix in Reisterstown.
  18. A lone mangled snowflake or two attempting to mix in in Reisterstown. Got two downy woodpeckers on the feeder when I came home this afternoon.
  19. I'd like to see the 850 temps sag south by about 20 to 30 miles. That's would make things better for a lot of folks.
