That’s the one that nailed me. It moved basically due south, very unusual.
How much did you get?

Tuesday some of us might make a run at 100 again.
Yep - heat comes back with a vengeance quickly. 80 tomorrow, near 90 on Monday and well into the 90s by Tuesday.

There is a ton of rain out to my east now. More even than was modeled.
Just getting clipped by a strong cell - only some very light rain here as the cell passes JUST to my west.

Nice heavy showers keep popping up here in Lanco.
Very spotty - nothing has come close to hitting this area.

Going to be lonely doing PBP with myself. LOL
I'll be around almost every day. Many days I can't commit to being on for long stretches though.
Mostly cloudy and 72 here.

What a beautiful evening for July!!
Sitting outside with a fire in the pit and a beverage in hand - and it feels glorious!

Glad you scored. I took a chance and was enthusiastic for you but was looking at radar on a mobile phone so did not look hard and close.
Pretty much a flush hit. There was no mention of rain at all for today from CTP, so I wasn't even looking at radar until I saw your post. Appreciated the heads up. :)

No wind, a couple of rumbles, and a legit downpour here resulted in .26" of rain in just under 7 minutes.
.54" yesterday.
.30" today.

It's raining time for training time?
Hmm. Sun is out here...but dark clouds looming to my NW.
Sky looks very similar to Wednesday evening when I was convinced I was getting a storm...and didn't.

Much sleeker on the iPhone. Plus the added bonus that there’s no longer a big blaring “AMERICAN WEATHER” banner at the top so if and when I’m back in an office it won’t be obvious that I’m spending time on weather forums while I’m on the clock.

I was viewing on desktop, but you're right. Much better look on mobile.

I mean - that might have briefly entered my mind...

Did something change on here? My layout looks different all of a sudden.

65/53 at 11am in the ‘burgh. I know you guys are a bit warmer than that but still good enough for July.
73 here - far cry from the 91-93 degree readings at this time Monday through Wednesday.

Bump.
Exactly! Nice little stretch of weather where we push pause before the heat really comes back next week.

Florida is going to get rocked.
Yes.
And speaking of Florida, when Bubbler posted about Elsa being a hurricane, I immediately thought of Elsa from Frozen. And that's why I simply said "Let It Go" (for those who know anything about Frozen, there's a song called Let It Go)

The cell that was warned for our area around 2pm yesterday both strengthened and slowed as it moved into eastern Lanco. Yes, there were some nice totals from the eastern part of the county. I believe that neighboring Chester was under a Flash Flood Warning as a result of that cell.

According to my wife, rain started at home 5 minutes ago and we're at .22" already...

Can’t see how that verifies with that batch of precip developing toward Somerset
Isn't that going to slide below us? (or perhaps south of my location)

That's awesome Carlisle, sounds like you're having an incredible time! I always tell people you have to get to Alaska at least once, truly unspeakable levels of beauty. How cool is Whittier, with the old one lane rail cave being the only way in or out of the town!? I remember feeling like we were in another world when we came out on the other side with the Caribbean-like turquois waters and the glaciers seemingly emanating right out from the water. If you get a chance, on the way to or from Denali hit up the small touristy village of Talkeetna, cool place. You can walk down to the river and get some incredible views of Denali towering over the landscape even though it's like 60 miles away. The daylight is always wild and it's not like it gets totally dark after sunset haha. I remember coming out of the bars at like 2am with my wife and it was still plenty light out, like a civil twilight. Sounds like you are getting nice classic Alaska weather, whereas when we were there they were having a record heat wave in which Anchorage hit 90 for the first time in its history. I would much rather have what you're having ha. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your trip and feel free to stop back in and let us know how things are going. Cheers!
Oh, almost forgot, Hatcher Pass is a place well worth stopping between Anchorage and Talkeetna. You can swim in a fresh mountain top lake one minute and then just a few steps away play in some snow, stunning.
Alaska is incredible - fortunate that my parents used to live there, and I had a chance to go a few times. :) On my last trip, it was in the 60s in Anchorage, but over 80 up in Healy outside of Denali National Park. My personal favorite place though is Seward - sitting along the Pacific, taking in the salt air like you would at any east coast beach, while being surrounded by snow-capped mountains was...exhilarating. That's a combo you can't experience in too many places in the U.S.

Still nothing officially in the bucket today despite 2 rounds of very light showers.
