All I read was this...uh oh.  Should I go turn on CNN for further instruction?

LOL - yet another trail I'll leave alone. :)

Do you remember what year we had the smoke from the fires in Canada? that was worse then this.

I don't. I think in general as I get older I struggle with allergies and respiratory issues more.

I stopped in the MA thread and saw several comments similar to yours.    I have not noticed anything myself.  With a front (albeit a weak one) passing tomrorow, I wonder if it gets a bit worse with the mixing down and then clears out after passage.

I did see a map where the smoke reaches it's worst in our area tomorrow. I'll shelter in place and put my mask back on. :)

For October, MDT did hit 97 twice and 93 once in 1941 and 93 in 2019 otherwise it has never been close.  Surprising MDT has never hit 100 after September 3rd.   If you take away the great heat wave of  September 1953, MDT has only hit 100 two days after August 15th so its very rare.

Normal high for MDT on 10/1 is 70, so it would take a +30 departure to reach 100.

    I guess it could?

MY general view of looking at various runs, the last few days, is that whatever heat is in the center of the country will eventually move east but it is shunted and minimized a bit from extremes.    I truly think our chances of hitting 100 are dwindling and really a long heat wave is starting to see less likely.

Bubbler the soothsayer has got the hot hand these days, hard to bet against you. I'll remain somewhat cautious as it's only 7/20 and we've had a lot of late-season heat waves in the past.

Having said that...I hope you're right!

Last radar frame showed it going due south with no east tinge at all so it could skip by to your west.  It was showing some east movement the previous few frames.

I was just going to post that - the cell hitting Canderson now is more less heading directly down Interstate 83 and will miss me pretty far west. There are a couple of smaller cells NE of Harrisburg that might reach me if they hold together, but they are a ways off yet.

A training line of cells is aimed right at you if it survives.   This is exponentially more than I thought today would see at this point.   I thought a few would see .25" type totals.   Radar is lite up from NY down to the Northern LSV. Should probably be some weather statements out.

This should be warned. Strong strong winds and heavy torrential rain.

I don't know if it's the smoke or what, but I see nothing looming on the horizon. Not even a hint of a darker tint to the sky to my N/NW.

That is because your NWS forecast says Sunny.  If you had been watching here you would have known :-).

    Today: Bubber > CTP.

I love CTP and defend them endlessly, but there was ZERO mention of rain for today that I saw.

Having said that, all I see here is sun and smoke.

i'm 58, life long Pirates fan. Glad my dad had us in Pittsburgh frequently in the 70s ;) because i doubt i ever see another Championship

1979 haunts me to this day. 2 things in particular:

    1) Hearing "We Are Family" about 6 thousand times during the World Series

    2) Hearing Omar Moreno's wife blow that f'ing whistle she had about 10 thousand times.

Orioles made the playoffs in 2016. :-)))

Indeed they did! They actually were in the playoffs in 2012, 2014, and 2016. The last few years of godawful baseball I think fool some people that it wasn't that long ago that the O's were actually pretty good. In 2012 they were REALLY good.

God, that’s depressing. At least you’ve gotten to see your teams, even the O’s, do something noteworthy. Thinking about the Pirates, who have won one wild card game and not won a playoff series in my 37 years on this earth, makes me miserable.

I feel for Pirates fans. Such a great baseball tradition and some really good baseball fans and very little to be excited about beyond having a gem of a ballpark. In my honest opinion, Camden Yards is way behind PNC Park for me. I love being there and just gawking at that sightlines.

Getting the 2" on, on Saturday, all at once was basically the same as just getting .5" as far as the grass is concerned.  It's going to grow a bit then be crunchy by Wed over here.

I saw a post from you similar to this over the weekend, and you're right. While I was a little disappointed in getting less than 1" of rain, I was pleased with how it was distributed on Saturday evening. That half inch plus I got came in a couple of hours of time...other than a couple of bursts it was actually a very nice soaking.

Early Nooners GFS returns.  1) LSV gets a light refresh of rain this evening into tomorrow, 2) Very comfortable mornings Thur, Fri and Sat and highs in the low 80's Wed-Fri.  3) Overall a very dry week.   Verbatim, some in the LSV may stay in the 60's on Sunday via rain (finally).

As depicted, that's a great week of summer weather.

Sunny and 84 here at 1pm.

I’ll bet that transistor NOAA radio had all the ladies flocking to you as if they were Iowa State girl or something.

Maybe that is what she was doing with her hands?  Asking Training to turn it up so she could hear the alerts.

    There's more I could say...

But yeah...it's sunny and 78 here now. :)

I bet it sucks being the head life guard but someone had to do it!

You have no idea. Girls were getting frustrated because my attention was divided listening to my transistor NOAA weather radio.

Come to think of it...I hope there weren't any that needed help in the pool...
