  1. Some breaks of sun now, 69. With a hint of humidity
  2. 68 now. imagine if we got a few breaks of sun..
  3. These been around for years. They are known to frequently set up shop in the Bx, mainly in Pelham Bay Park (and adjacent neighborhoods) and on City Island. Also known to nest on major bridges, Throgs Neck, Whitestone, etc. They get noisy as hell too.
  4. For sun intensity equivalents http://windowseat.ca/sun/ March 11 sun equals Oct 1 sun
  5. Forecasts I saw showed slightly above freezing temps were expected around the city but would be overwhelmed by heavy snow rates at night. Is it the heavy snow never came? Speaking just from my memory, when we count on very heavy snow to overcome temps it usually doesnt materialize. I always take it with a grain of salt. I know some people will say.."they closed school for this??"
  6. That what it seem like to me. The real heavy bands flirted with the bx time to time, but really sat over bk, queens and then head east over long island. It looks unimpressive to me considering they closed school.
  7. Enough to enjoy but with minimal effect on travel. Roads just wet with lots of melting now.
  8. For all the winter despair, the city has a decent chance ending up just slightly below normal (20"+) in a few days. All the snow on the fringes of winter.
  9. Gusting over 40 now at the airports and Brooklyn mesonet
  10. Yeah I noticed we never got out of the 40s. I think some breaks of sun were expected. It stayed overcast here.
  11. I understand the feeling from both sides. I think in a weird way it come down to getting the recognition for enduring a paltry snow season. A suprise moderate snow event in March that washes away as soon as its over would get the city into the mid teens for seasonal snowfall, but it'd still feel like a bad winter for snow lovers. Stastically itd end up being a run of the mill below avg snow season but it felt much worse. Its kind of like 97-98, with its 0.5" total until a suprise 5" storm in late March took the record of least snowest season ever away. It was all gone by the afternoon too. People suffered through the whole winter, they want the credit for it lol. If something credible comes along everyone will get sucked back in though.
  12. Yeah still freezing rain here in the bx. 31 now. Didnt get up to 30 degrees until after 10pm. So not major but still noteworthy icing up here.
  13. turning out to be more icy than i thought it would be..a burst of mod freezing rain, 29. Icy espically once you're off the main roadways.
  14. Getting some ice accretion now Freezing drizzle 29 degrees
  15. 1.6" in the Bx, measured by NYBG entrance
  16. I dont think ppl should just throw out the Nov snowfall, but I do understand why its worth pointing out. We have only 8 or 9" for the season, but it doesnt even "feel" like that much snow. It feels virtually snowless when 6"+ of that fell in what some would consider a fluke event 3 months ago. It's statistically valid like any other snowfall but statistics cant tell the whole story. The commentary is what brings the story behind the numbers to life.
  17. Oh wow you really got a head start
  18. Snow in Tribeca for about an hr, starting to stick now. Camera at home in the Bx still shows nothing. I see it is a struggle moving north and east
  19. Rain and sleet in the bx. 34 degrees. Had small hope of a coating of snow but not to be it seems.
  20. yeah I was a little surprised at how mild it felt outside in lower Manhattan now. Big spread in temps though. Staten Island is 61 while Queens Mesonet is 49. That not by the Rockaways either that's Queens College off the LIE.
  21. I have a couple indoor plants and I noticed they recently started growing new leaves again. Little low tech solar radiation indicators lol
  22. Very light freezing rain/sleet/flurries in Tribeca. Temps in the 20s still, fairly icy sidewalks. I'd imagine it must be pretty icy outside of Manhattan with less heavy pedestrian activity.
