  1. Seems like a while since we had a solid MA punching up snow...anyone remember the last solid MA that yielded a lot of snow?
  2. Like the legend here...woke up to sideways snow, wind and maybe an additional 1/2-3/4" overnight. Sitting at about 5" now, be safe everyone. Imagine some strong winds coming through today.
  3. Indeed, about an hour out here...east of Elk Knob, Rittle Knob. Got a healthy 0.75"...should these rates continue for the next 20+ hours, could be more than expected. Anyone in the NW GA area, Lookout/Pigeon Mtn. (TAG Region).
  4. Solid snow coming down flakes smaller than a dime, but it’s snowing pretty good here in northern Watauga county near the Ashe County line.
  5. Indeed, been here for about 10 trips around the sun and miss Coldrain and BigFrosty...but it's great to see new folks as well. Cheers folks, enjoy the ride! Hope everyone can get a solid run and keep the lights on. Be safe! I'm going with a solid 6" in my area from northern Watauga into Ashe. Gonna get snowed in with my grandson and make some sausage balls.
  6. Good run. Just waiting for that northern shift, 48 out.
  7. Very strong winds here in North West Watauga, snow pouring sideways. Be safe everyone if you have to go out. Looking forward to the next system, hoping our friends and colleagues to the south and our piedmont can get a decent thump this winter, looks promising.
  8. Snow has changed over to sleet and freezing rain east side of Elk Knob.
  9. Lights out in W KY…oof. Anyone want to start a new thread for this particular 5/6 event?
  10. Nice rate of snow falling on the east side of Elk Knob. Very small, fine flakes. Looks like it’s raining snow.
  11. Ice Storm north of 40 and south of 64...through the TN/KY corridor...
  12. Seems that the Euro and GFS are converging on this deal, maybe not the numbers tho'.... Anyone else see that?
  13. Anyway to collapse that big ol' picture from the moderator....every time I read those replies, I gotta look at that picture of some country road in Savannah or Charleston...can I put a big ol' picture of my business as my 'signature' and get some free advertising? But seriously, can I collapse that...it's annoying
  14. This has been one of the most inactive winters for the Blue Ridge mountains that I've ever experienced. We have crops, plants, and bulbs emerging up here. It's crazy!
  15. Worst winter since I've been up here in the Blue Ridge, ever! And, all I can see on the forecast is cold rain.
  16. Off topic…..Has anyone noticed the national decline of air quality since February 6th…wonder what’s going on. Why aren’t we hearing about this? Lately having over 200 AQI, PM 2.5 near Garner, NC. The AQI across the nation has dramatically increased.
  17. This has been one of the most inactive winters up here in the blue ridge that I can remember.
  18. I grew up in the NC Piedmont...and my dad used to tell me about those 3 Wednesdays...back to back. However, I'm afraid we've screwed up our climate, but hopefully it's not too late, if we can make some major changes soon. If not, I fear the crazy stuff happening out in CA is just a tip of iceberg heading our way.
  19. Agreed...the cold Christmas had me hoping for a little bit more active winter...ugh! Maybe it's going to be a late winter...we'll see.
  20. Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen...super hopeful for an active winter. Any updates about the approaching system? Low tracking south?
  21. Looks like a cold snap heading towards us. We had some lightning up here Tuesday…according to my daughter. She was up near Elk Knob and said it was thundering. Snow for the weekend? Feels like a little thump coming through.
  22. 19 here…dusting and it’s coming down at a moderate rate.
