  1. Switch to snow began after midnight. Maybe ride around the field roads later if we hit 2". More this weekend.
  2. River hasn't broken yet. Solid from bank to bank but I wont be going on it even with the big snow week coming up. Trails are completely gone but the ground is still frozen. New snow will hold awhile, the fields are gonna get fun!
  3. That CT Valley to Quabbin hole is tough. Lived in Belchertown/Greenfield long ago and thought I'd left Woods Hole for the arctic. Great step up from Cape Cod. Having moved on to more exciting wintry areas I look back and think, "I once thought it was wintry there."!
  4. They're grooming it all and it's real cold but thin cover is hardening up as we've had no refreshment for a week+. Lotta broken springs from the hard chatter. Any new cover will make a world of diff for the trail riders. For me, these are the best days to go fielding. So much area- fields bigger than Hartford. Field edges and the river are butter soft. Field and stream- the best riding.
  5. The birds love it. My fields are meadows now. I bush og selectively every few years. Take out the trash scrub just leaving grasses, firs, birch and maple. No popple (poplar) ever. Not many ticks up here. Never saw one in the house the 10 yrs we had a corgi.
  6. Lawn thread! I reduced my lawn size by 2/3 and I scalp the piss out of what I now mow to retard the growth. I would kill it if I could but it always grows back as green as can be. No nutes, no watering, no wasted hours. Kill your lawns.
  7. Our "true clipper" that gave NE NNE 7" on Friday went on to bomb out on NS- ridiculous amts. Same storm been backing in here all day fer a new half inch. Pin this thread!
  8. Wow, those windmills. Lived in Westminstah 2 yrs, had a great view of Wachusett. Loved this view from Wachusett- my old digs were in this view,... those things are hideous. Feck.

  10. Finished plowing. A solid 6". Time to ride. Here's a before and after-
  11. Nice ride in increasing snow. 2" down as I rolled in to the garage just now. Good rates- 5" a lock here. Photos in morning.
  12. Caribou NWS called it a "true Alberta Clipper" in disco other day. Don't know why the other Alberta Clippers are false. Snow beginning, looking for up to 6". All amounts are welcome. Certainly worth tracking here though the Connecticutians huff from the tropics of New England that it doesn't count.
  13. Lots to talk about in NE NNE! Wolfie has a larger scope of interest than most Connecticutians here. It's not just his north facing yard pack at stake. Wife asked why the photo? I told her , "To tease the weenies". She said, "That's my job."
  14. Minus 15 down hill at the river. -5 at the house 150' vert 1/4mi up hill from river. Tracking an Alberta Clipper for Thursday here. Not much excitement about it from the Connecticutians... Headin out for a ride once temp climbs a bit.
  15. A lotta people like you here, Wiz. It will get better.
  16. Looks like about 8". Errybody grooming errything in The County. Putting in my river crossing. Gonna be fluffy.
