  1. Again, on the list of factors preventing snow, this is near the bottom
  2. SSTs off the east coast are pretty meaningless, if anything prefer warmer temps for enhanced baroclinicity
  3. That was the grinch, parts of upstate NY had 40 inches in one storm last December. This one we had one storm for 6 to 8 inches two weeks ago and a few more of inch or so. No real cold but a few radiational cooling nights and lots of clouds grey skies, inversions and temps in the 30s during the day
  4. I don’t remember last year being this bad, we had a huge snow storm in mid December. Grinch was bad but I still take that over this year
  5. It’s not bad luck, there is a reason the NAO breaks down when the RNA moves out of the gutter
  6. Could but probably not, especially if the PV heads toward Europe. We would still be flooded with PAC air
  7. Historic torch looking likely Jan 5 to 15, even warmer than what we had most of December as we loose the blocking and RNA rages
  8. It’s a few radiational cooling nights, not representative
  9. Don’t see any threat on any of these, maybe some light rain or drizzle
  10. Can’t imagine many being thrilled with 4.4 inches of snow for all of January
  11. https://nypost.com/2021/10/20/nyc-to-be-affected-by-la-higher-snowfall-than-expected-in-november/
  12. You said this week upcoming looked great last week, instead this week is near 50 everyday with intermittent rain. The models past a few days, even ensembles are no better than a coin flip
  13. More rain on Wednesday, Xmas week falling apart for the mountains
  14. Freezing rain to rain tomorrow will be brutal, strongest storm in a week and it’s liquid
  15. Bingo, honestly next few weeks look worse than what we had last week (snow for central and northern New England). I see warmth and weak rain systems next two to three weeks. Awful stretch in the heart of winter
  16. Correct, very stable pattern with the cold water south of Alaska and the Nina forcing causing the MJO to stall and loop. However the NAO is not stable, I see nothing promising for next few weeks
