    The 0z global ensemble snow maps are starting to respond to the potential for the January 5th to 12th period. One of the simple trends that I look for is to see how far south the “blue” reaches on these maps. It’s good to see the expansion of the blue with the overnight runs.

    @CAPE has great analysis this morning in the Mid Atlantic thread on the upcoming potential showing for the January 6th to 10th period.

    We just need to be patient. There could be a chance or 2 before the 9th, but either way, we should be entering a window of Winter Storm opportunity in early January.

    It was good to see the 12z GFS & 12z Euro Op today both showing Winter storms around January 9th.

    12z GFS is right where we want it at 300 hundred hours out. Loaded with potential in that first full week of January.

    18z GFS is close enough for 11 days out. Plenty of time to make it work…

    Sounds good, hopefully we can stack a few of those with cold enough air to maintain snow pack for a few weeks.

    Exactly…. Bring the cold, keep it anchored in as best as possible & bring moisture laden storms to attack the cold. I don’t care if we get a series of 4 to 8 inch events that change to a mix, just bring me Winter storms. We should have our chances in early January.
