Yes sir(not nearly the anomolous look of the Octobomb) and looking much more benign than it did....but we'll see if it goes back the other way again like it sometimes does. I never expected any snow from this upcoming weekend system in SNE...so no disappointments here. I'd rather our first snow come in November anyway(lol as if I/we have a choice either way lol).

Completely and totally agree with everything you're saying. I was well aware of the potential, and warned alot of my family and friends that there could be more snow...much more than what was even being suggested. And yes, the ingredients were very anomalous...and yes the signals were there if you were following along on here. But even the local stations were not calling for a complete snow event here at all...not by a long shot..nobody was for this area. But for this area it way way overperformed from what was being advertised. All the stations were playing catch up as it set in. No worries though...

Whoa...take it easy. Nobody was howling or angry at all!! Geez. in my town there was no snow prior. And while I had the high temp the day before wrong(sorry my mistake), it was about 50 degrees on that Friday in my location...which hardly screams snow here. And with some sunshine it felt quite mild. Nothing that would make anybody think snow was on the way..not here anyway. Farther north and in higher elevated spots you had a precursor..but not here in central CT. So that’s where I was coming from. And then the temp dropped overnight and kept dropping. Was forecast to rain here for the whole day til late afternoon..then change to snow gradually toward evening. As we know that was very wrong...and it started as snow from the start. My girlfriend and family...and the general public believed we’d have no, or very little snow as late as that early morning...so it was a huge surprise for most in this area when it started out as snow...and went nuts. Didnt mean to anger you Valley...and I too remember what happened here in my area. Different areas..different things.

I do not remember any predecessor snowfall, or cold weather before the bomb in October of 2011?? I remember it being quite mild the days before the storm...the day before(Friday) was over 60 if memory serves me right...no?? The days following the storm were very cold if that’s what you’re meaning??

Oh exactly. And when you posted that I too immediately thought of how the GFS has a warm bias more often than not, so that's why I said perhaps an early sign???? Caveats all applied of course.

Don't stop posting Lurker.....just stop being so worried about a potential warm up two weeks from now...it really has no relevance on the next week or two, and may or may not pan out like it's being shown??????? There are alot of METS here, and hobbyists that really know their stuff(that's what make it a good site), and sometimes they can get easily "frustrated" with newbie questions and Green-ness so to speak. Just try and let it role off your back and move forward...learn and continue to post. You're a decent guy...don't give up so easily ok :-)

Great story on right now on the Fox News show “Life Liberty and Levin.” Mark Levin’s got a climatologist(Dr PATRICK Michaels)on that works for Ceto institute, and a U.N. Climate Panel contributor and reviewer. The guy is blowing up all the hype on global warming....saying all the climate models have such an overblown forecast with regard to CO2/warming...he says it’s so distorted. He says it’s a Biased and Politically driven agenda for sure! Very smart and interesting guy...eye opening for sure.

We don’t need the snow yet....hold it off another 3 weeks or so imo.

Ya I wouldn’t worry about any snow from that system here anyway. A month from now and we’d be in business...

NOAA has become almost worthless to look at for any long term ideas...Just like you pointed out, it's the same every year all the time...I don't even bother looking at them anymore.

Ok now that I think back....I do remember it somewhat. Some light snow but nothing all that impressive in my area. Obviously like you said, the more Northeast you were the greater the effect with that one. Thanks Jerry for the info.

Oh then I don't remember that one??? I thought he was talking about the one that came in from the East Northeast in Feb, where most in New England had rain and NYC had two feet, as well as other places in the Mid Atlantic, which was part of the Snowmageddon deal that year.

That storm was in Feb...but sure in extreme cases that could happen and winter ends in Mid Jan like Lurker said. I'm not ready to go there that's for sure...that would be an extreme case for sure.

By Mid Jan???? Ok that would be a very very short lived winter if that were the case and I don't think we'd even be able to call it a Front-loaded winter if that were to happen. That would suck...hope you're wrong....which you probably are on that call. Perhaps a Jan thaw by mid Jan...but winter being over at that point...is highly unlikely.

Do you mean 2011? Sandy was 2012. The big October snow was 2011.
