I mean can we even remotely trust anything the GFS says after what just happened? I know the later period did look better than Thursday did…but it was a horrid performance.

Well, as hard as it is to imagine, 2/7 is only two days shy of 4 weeks away. So ya, if everything is the same as it is now in 4 weeks, then it might be a good idea. Although, that’s when you’re into the snowiest month of the season..but whatever.

My point is, they’ve been doing fine. My cabin in northern Maine picked up 8-10 yesterday. Western Maine is in very good shape. So is Vermont. As I said, I’m sure there are areas that may not be…but the places I’m paying attention to, are quite good. Ask Alex in N NH how it’s been? Or Powderfriek.

I’m not worried about NH’s drought. I’m talking about good snow, and snow cover. Vermont is buried and so are those other locations that I said. I’m sure there are micro locations that may not be, but for the most part NNE is in great shape as far as winter/and snow goes. And they look to be adding to their snow over the next week as well.

The lower amount of Precipitation doesn’t always equate to low snowfall. Vermont is doing fabulous with snow, and so is northwest and northern Maine.

Summer activities are different from winter activities. You dress for it, with good gear, you can do whatever winter activity it is that you enjoy doing. Obviously the very far extremes on either end of the spectrum can be challenging, but those are the extreme examples. Nobody goes and sits in a lawn chair in the winter…..period. That is a summer activity Paul, not a winter one. So that’s apples and oranges.

No, Sign of this current time. We were told before this year, and last, that the sustained cold, and the clippers were a thing of the past. Obviously as we can see, they are not. Unfortunately for us(in SNE)it wants to be dry now. Sometimes that’s just how it goes. NNE crushing it…but we can’t seem to line it up here for the most part so far. Not much more to say.

It doesn’t hurt Brett..I honestly dont know what you’re trying to accomplish? It’s weather. It doesn’t alway do what we want, or hope for. And if you’re insisting that it’s flying by, we still have much more in front of us, than behind us. But whatever…it guess it doesn’t matter when one has your outlook on things. It’s snowing heavily in N. Maine currently, and they are under a winter storm warning. I’ll be heading up north end of the week, so it’s all good for me in that regard. Enjoy whatever happens with this.

Here’s the deal, if you have any type of system, that is even half way decent, the whole BS sun angle crap does not matter whatsoever. October 2011 shot all that complete nonsense to the moon. It’s all about the rates…period. If it’s snowing pathetically light, then sure, you may get a quarter inch of accumulation now/in January, and it won’t accumulate in mid Feb, but is that really important? No. Who really cares about that..nobody. The biggest/best storms/most snow comes in Feb most times…sun angle BS doesn’t factor in to that at all. Only matters in very marginal/shit systems that aren’t worth the effort anyway.

Ok, let’s not get to over dramatic. We don’t have to worry about any sun angle BS for quite some time. Which has nothing to do with whether this upcoming system sucks or not.

It’s a very flawed set up as currently depicted now. I’m thinking this has too many flies in the ointment to be anything more then a nuisance at best. I mean there’s plenty of time, but we’ve seen this before. All these other issues are more likely to overwhelm the evolution, and hamper development.

This has other complications besides that. A kicker is involved, and another trough are keeping it from coming together as it should…at least currently. So a meager event is probably what will come of it. Vortex95 has a great write up in the specific storm thread.

At this point, it’s just another solution.
