Id also rather have 4 6" events than one 24" event. Say for the month of December. I think most in NYC would agree that 15-16 was a shit winter and they got a lot more than average from one storm, but i dont think theyd be saying that if they got like a few small events in december, jan and feb spread out mostly evenly.

please i dont wanna hear it i missed Feb 03 (PD2), Jan 11, Feb 13 all in different states and countries.

Its painful but jan 16 made up for, here at least, that storm was awesome, daytime 2-3/hr rates.

I wonder what what totals would have been if 1888 occured today. Kocin has said that they are likey wayyy underdone as they were measuring depth at the end especially NYC based on the pictures and info we have he thinks they should have way more maybe 30" or more. and if the depth was 45" here, were probably looking at 60+ easily measuring in 6 hr increments.

i think thats the one im always trying to remember...there was an epic epic bust worse than jan 15 or Apr 2003 or anything i can remember...we were forecast 7-14" here and we ended up with some RN/SN showers with 0 accumulaiton. It was an epic bust. its probably that one.

you got lucky with that 10, if it werent for that odd rogue band that hovered over LI and NYC that wasnt forecast you would have gotten 2" like a lot of NJ did. I only picked up 7.5" from the main event.

Thats my experience with Feb 5 2001, not sure if you are talking about Mar or Feb there. I was only a young teenager but it really got me excited about weather. I had no idea it could thunder and lightning while it was snowing let alone CG strikes. I was outside and a CG strike hit my neighbors back yard and thunder so loud it felt like a summertime convective storm. Crazy heavy sleet and snow followed by several more CG and CC strikes.

Prob Feb 5th 2001. Largest flakes ive ever seen the size of baseballs. It came in like a wall around 10am and we got 7" by early afternoon.

Yeah thats jumping off a bridge worthy in NJ, we lucked out in CT, could have been a lot worse. Getting 12-18 instead of 12-24 is not that bad at all, i still love it to this day never experienced anything like it. A storm that started as light snow late Sunday morning and ended as large dendys Tuesday Night around midnight.

I most certainly wouldn't call that bust unless you lived in Groton or Greenwich.

wait what? Were you in Southbury CT? or NYC? I mean we were always forcast to get slightly less in extreme southern CT than say the litchfield hills but having a 54hr snow storm with every p-type thats frozen and 12-18" at the end is never brutal imo. I finished with over a foot. Sure 3 feet would be nice but we werent expecting that. I remember the zones were 12-18" for here and thats where we finished. Heres the map: This is a funny video referring to that storm as well: You can see forecasts for Wills area was 1-3 ft and 20-30" for around Worcester. But southern CT and your area was more like 12-24.

i dunno i wasnt here for that one i just looked at some maps that were available from that time cant believe 2010 was 10 years ago. Still seems recent. I mean it wasn't exactly a miller A then either

Thats the storm that got me into weather. That season as whole. Dec 30th, Jan 21st, Feb 5th, and Mar 4-6 mega storm specifically. It was the first really big 12+er since 1996 i believe.

Feb 25-26 2010 snowicane was a miller b, can't get much farther west than that, it backed up over CT and NYC. @CoastalWx

One of the best storms ever. I think 2000-2001 was probably my favorite season ever. We had a monster 12+ like once a month.

Here's the final storm totals for CT. Thanks everyone for all the reports. I figured this one wouldn't work out for southern CT and the valley areas so i wasn't really feelin' it enough to make a map. Also with my schedule i really didnt have the time. Attached is a screenshot from a group chat im in with a few mets from this board. I would have done very well for most of the state but busted too low for NW CT, especially that tight area around Burlington. Nailed E and NE CT especially around the Tolland to Union area. It was pretty much all rain here except for a brief time around 12-2PM with heavy banding we changed to a 50/50 mix but never fully flipped. When the precip lightened up we changed back over to all rain and ended. Final total was Trace. Lets hope we can all sneak one solid event here in CT and the tri-state area before the month is over. It's been almost 3 years since the last warning even during met winter. Too long..

That's this storm? Looks like arctic powder and a lot of it.

thanks i know about all the PNS statements thats one of the resources i always use to make a verification map. I always ask here though because about half either dont report or dont make it to the PNS statement, plus i want to make sure its the latest updated amount. Sometimes they have slightly older numbers and not the final amount in the PNS. I'm assuming the 6.0" was yours from Tolland. That is the final right? Looks like the highest in CT was from Union at 10" Trace here.
