  1. NWS summary of Florence. https://www.weather.gov/mhx/Florence2018
  2. Thanks, we actually ended up in Virginia Beach on Saturday after I was able to walk around the neighborhood Friday evening and see all the power lines down. I figured it would be at least a week before we got it back up so Saturday morning we left and came back Thursday when I heard that power was back on.
  3. Good to see this site back up. That was a long time for it to be down.
  4. Started out this morning at 65. Currently sunny and 82/73.
  5. Woohoo, back up. We ended up with 11.5" from Florence. Don't know about the winds. I had 6 sections of my privacy fence come down with 4 of the posts snapped at the base. A large limb came down also but luckily no damage to my roof or house. Many of my neighbors were not so fortunate. Power was off for 5 days.
  6. I saw that on FB earlier. Have a FB friend in Richmond who hide in her basement.
  7. Can't figure out how to add text so here goes. 1st picture shows my fence. The posts were snapped at the ground level as they had 2 bags of cement to hold them in after Irene pulled them out. 2nd pic shows downed power lines. 3rd pic shows high water mark on road as it dips down to cross over creek near me and 4th pic shows large tree limb down.
  8. Pictures from my yard and neighborhood.
  9. Has anyone seen any charts of highest winds gusts from the storm? I heard of a 105 mph gust at Fort Macon and Wrightsville Beach but nothing else.
  10. Hey everyone, finally getting a chance to check in. We are safe and sound. We lost power Thursday evening and it will be down for a long while. Numerous lines are down leading to our neighborhood. my house is fine and no flooding as I am on high ground. I lost part of my fence and a large limb but that is all. We picked up 10.5" as of Friday night. I am now in Virginia Beach staying with my brother as the house got too warm and humid to enjoy. My work has signal that they will be closed until further notice which probably means all next week. This storm was much worse that anything else I have been in including Irene. In less than 2 years I will get a chance to retire and we will leave to coast and head far inland. I am done with Hurricanes. Pictures will come later.
  11. We are now up to .66" and very windy and rainy with some good 40mph+ gusts.
  12. This is a few miles down the road from me. Probably why my power went out initially.
  13. Had an intense band come thru and knocked out our power but once the rain and winds let up, it came back on. I thought we were done with power for a long time.
  14. I am seriously doubting those numbers. It is calling for 24" for us and as of right now I have only had .16" and I live just southeast of NB.
  15. Eastern eyewall is pretty much gone. Is it doing an eyewall replacement?
  16. 1900 homes without power in Carteret County, 1600 homes without power in Craven County. Duke energy reporting 6000 without power in eastern NC.
  17. Eye looks to be wobbling a lot but seems to be generally moving wnw. Anyone else see this?
  18. Power outages already being reported in Havelock, Morehead, and Beaufort.
  19. Just had our first band come thru. .12" only. Windy with winds probably in the 25-35 mph range.
  20. Just had a short but heavy band move thru. It was quick and gusty. Only .12" feel out of it but it is pretty windy here. Probably in the 25 to 35 mph range.
  21. Even if she weakens to a cat 1, storm surge will still be huge all along the coast.
  22. .01" in a very brief shower this evening.
  23. A lot of people expected her to be a strong cat 4 or even a cat 5 by now. Let's hope the weakening continues. At her size it would take while to wind down unless more dry air gets entrained in her.
  24. Good, keep weakening. I would love to wake up tomorrow and see a sub 100 mph storm.
  25. Also, our local news had there future radar model show us having very little effect from Florence. Just some wind and rain. Much worse at the southern coast south of J-actionville.
