Blame the last 3 years (last 7 years for us, lol). Although this is indeed a typical niño warm-ish December (and really it's not a full blown torch), it may feel worse to some because of recent history. Besides, though the history of Niños is mid-January onward, there are no guarantees in weather...

Maybe you should just not track for a little while. The break may be helpful...And you wanna know what I'm learning? To not post my negative feelings if I have them. I'm realizing that it's not good for the forum, and this forum is not about me and being an endless venting session. I'm also realizing that anytime it gets to the point of bothering me, I gotta reset and step away from everything for awhile. The more you feed the negativity the more it grows in your mind. Don't give it that kind of power, dude...just step away when you need to...and don't bring the board down (because again, it's here for other people too).

Yeah I was reeeeaaal salty and annoying on here after being fringed by that Jan 2022 storm....one of several moments on here I'm not proud of.

Same, lol And I'm not even that far north. The city kinda got skunked even though BWI recorded 6 inches (I don't think we got more than 2-2.5)

How often would we get a clipper this early, though? (Although I get your overall point of the apparent clipper disappearance. But I'd argue if this were a month later it would've been better)

And I do wonder if we have enough data to compare snowstorms to now in terms of what a storm A 60 years ago would've looked like today. That part seems more speculative as of now rather than backed up by solid data.

Yeah it probably doesn't since it's technically a separate discussion from long range stuff. I mean, I don't know...it's a little bit murky since we do talk about analogs and such. But when this other sufff gets brought up the thread seems to get in the weeds a bit.

The theory is that with a warmer globe some storms on the margin back then may not work as well now. But that's if you believe in warming, lol I think the resistance to the idea of our snow climo not being what it was is twofold: 1) The fear of it being true (of course most of us wouldn't WANT it to be true, and are hoping it isn't) 2) The general polarization of the AGW debate
