  1. Toxic, toxic....mercy. Forgive me, I've tried to hold my peace about this, but...my goodness, ya got the same two or three in here messing it up (when I see their icons, I don't even open it half the time, lol) I mean, I get that you guys don't want to moderate TOO heavily and such...nevertheless, it's still frustrating to read.
  2. Don't even start, haha Still holding out hope for the minimum to help us next winter!
  3. Unfortunately it's the same two or three people (that appear to come in shifts, lol) that make the thread like this...
  4. And not to mention just the sheer pace of it...what are we talkin...just 2 months in now? Whereas even some of the worst flu seasons took at least entire season to get to their total (I guess you could 4-6 months? Or do they count it by the calendar year?). This thing has been vicious, smh
  5. Seems like they've been hovering around the 200 mark lately...not sure what's going on up there, smh
  6. Yep...I think we can throw out Sun and Mon as measurements for how we're doing!
  7. Yeah that is really something...praying for his complete recovery! You know, I've been hearing that the last several years, medical researchers have been finding that people under 50 have been starting to get colon cancer more...but they're not sure why! If that's true and that trend continues...I wouldn't be surprised if they lowered the age of recommended screenings! (I think it's still 50 right now, isn't?)
  8. Just passed the 1,000,000 mark for cases in the US...mercy. What is that, a third of the world's cases? Mercy.
  9. Oh wow--thanks for the link! Will certainly keep them in mind!
  10. *crazy breathing* WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT?? *pant pant*
  11. Don't forget about the weekend lag and such...I'm not putting much stock in it myself.
  12. I hope not, smh And dang...ya know it's bad when even on a weekend where the reported numbers are usually lower...still couldn't avoid 2k. Mercy...
  13. "Noped out"...lol Haven't heard that one!
  14. Man, see he done did? Don't know whether to laugh or just smh...
  15. Do we even wanna ask?...
  16. But are you also calculating the risk of others? See what I'm hearing in the argument you and some others presented is one of "well, I personally will be okay". But in a pandemic, that isn't the only factor here. You don't know who around you is vulnerable. Or who around you will be in contact with someone who is (and that infection "tree" can go on and on). That's why it's not just a "me" thing with pandemics.
  17. It's a cop-out, really...and it's an argument that is has lost credence by the day!
  18. This and this. Pandemic response is a group effort--not an individual one!
  19. I automatically read that part in a southern accent...lol
  20. That the decrease in deaths, hospitalizations, cases would meet the criteria set forth in the federal guidelines for the various phases. If Fauci, Birx, and the rest of the team of experts put that together, I think it is a good model to follow.
  21. It is all guessing when it comes to setting dates and timetables...which is why we have to follow the numbers as they come and not try to jump too far ahead too soon!
  22. Can understand that. But the harsh reality is...when it comes to a timetable...there is a certain degree of this whole situation that we simply don't have any control over. We are already doing what we can to try and diminish the spread and get the numbers down. But right now that's all we can do...we cannot control exactly how fast cases finally start to go down and get to phase 1 status. The reality of the virus doesn't change just because the economy is hurting and we wanna turn the switch back on. It's a frustrating position to be in for so many people, no doubt! It's an awful position to be in! But we have to get to the point where, when we really start to open things up, we are not choosing the economy over human safety. It can't be...economy AND safety is what needs to happen. Safety has to be paramount...the safety piece is contingent on the numbers and when they start to fall at a consistent rate. It's a big difference between when we'd PREFER to open up and when we actually SHOULD...and unfortunately the SHOULD criteria hasn't been met yet, imo. Economy is gonna hurt, but opening too soon might end up adding on top of that hurt worse than it already is...
  23. I shoulda said any liquid alternatives (I've long thought sharing a bar of soap would be worse...not sure how accurate that is, though!)
