  1. It is all guessing when it comes to setting dates and timetables...which is why we have to follow the numbers as they come and not try to jump too far ahead too soon!
  2. Can understand that. But the harsh reality is...when it comes to a timetable...there is a certain degree of this whole situation that we simply don't have any control over. We are already doing what we can to try and diminish the spread and get the numbers down. But right now that's all we can do...we cannot control exactly how fast cases finally start to go down and get to phase 1 status. The reality of the virus doesn't change just because the economy is hurting and we wanna turn the switch back on. It's a frustrating position to be in for so many people, no doubt! It's an awful position to be in! But we have to get to the point where, when we really start to open things up, we are not choosing the economy over human safety. It can't be...economy AND safety is what needs to happen. Safety has to be paramount...the safety piece is contingent on the numbers and when they start to fall at a consistent rate. It's a big difference between when we'd PREFER to open up and when we actually SHOULD...and unfortunately the SHOULD criteria hasn't been met yet, imo. Economy is gonna hurt, but opening too soon might end up adding on top of that hurt worse than it already is...
  3. I shoulda said any liquid alternatives (I've long thought sharing a bar of soap would be worse...not sure how accurate that is, though!)
  4. Man I'm so tired of the hand soap shortage...it, like hand sanitizer, is pretty much gold. any suggestions on alternatives? Have had to switch to using Palmolive antibacterial dish soap...but it's makin' my hands snow like 2010!!
  5. For real? Interesting...like, right now it's hard to imagine such a precipitous drop in just a month...I mean, it would he great, but how?
  6. Dang...I mean it seems like with New Jersey has really been taking it on the nose with no real abatement, smh (and they got bad when NY did, didn't they?)
  7. Ah! What happened?? Hadn't been on worldometer since earlier this afternoon and it felt like it was gonna be a decent day...then I look again just now...mercy.
  8. Yeah at this point I think we gotta put the flu comparison to bed...because again, when have we ever had a flu season take out 45k in just seven weeks?...
  9. Wait...you think the national death toll for the entire country will decline to 100 much by then? But how...unless we see the new infections go down quite a bit between now and the end of the month, I don't know how we get there that fast.
  10. Yeah seriously...at the rate we're going even in a couple weeks we could be at 60k, smh
  11. Same...It's like, some days, it feels like "okay, it's out there, but we're okay" and others, it's like the potential of how serious it can be kinda hits you...and it feels like a big cloud of doom looming outside the house, lol
  12. Oh gee I wonder why? It appears a certain person was absent today...that tells ya a lot, lol
  13. @stormtracker Love the addition to your profile pic That is perfect! (But dang it! This crap is messin' up all the 250th birthday celebrations! BSO was gonna go Beethoven crazy this Spring! I think they oughta push all those concerts to the Fall--they simply can't just cancel and move on to other things!)
  14. I can certainly believe that...I'll never forget that time in high school where somebody sneezed right in front of the AC that was blowing on me about 6-7 feet away: I caught a cold right after that (felt like I could literally feel the germs entering my nose, lol). So yeah, AC + droplets=no bueno!
  15. That was a full-on Gronk-spike...lol Couldn't have orchestrated all this any better!
  16. My thoughts exactly...shouts of tyrannical government would be the first thing we'd hear, smh
  17. Until now I hadn't had any family get it...but now my uncle (and the other three occupants in that house or whatever it is) got it in this facility he's had to stay in the past couple months, smh And he's in that at risk age group and has an underlying condition (Parkinson's)...No fever, but just coughing. Folks, you just never know when it'll hit close...praying that their cases don't get any worse!
  18. Heck yeah, Hogan! And great call, Mappy (mother always knows best )
  19. Interesting theory...that would be kind of funny if Hogan pulls off something internationally that the federal level should've done, lol (wasn't there another state that got something from another country?) P.S. I'm not sure spitballing is a very sanitary thing to do right now...
  20. Lol Isn't that this one? (which I despise)
  21. That's just it, though...on something like this where you have somethings that really need more time to be better understood, and then if the data appears one way to you but then you hear somebody else give another interpretation of the data that will make it seem like "eh, it's not that bad"...it's hard to know what to believe sometimes. I'm a person that just wants to be on the right side of an issue...but for this, things seem to still be evolving. Right now, I have no clue whether what we're doing has been too much or just enough. It's just a difficult situation to assess. But what is clear is that what we are dealing with is a different animal than what most of us have seen in our lifetimes! (unless we have any 102+ year old users on here that survived the 1918 pandemic, lol)
  22. What bothers me is that some people are trying to discredit him and the other experts as if their opinion doesn't have any weight (and as if they're part of some "mass hysteria conspiracy")...It sews just enough doubt to make ya second-guess things.
  23. Just had to make sure...seeing as there are still some parroting the "it's just like the flu!" mantra (although hopefully they're in the minority by this point, lol)
