  1. We noticed a lot more stinger bugs out at the pool today, too
  2. Spent the day at Hershey, 70s and mostly cloudy, with random sprinkles. Was worried it would be a wetter day given gfs and euro yesterday had heavier showers off/on most of the day. So glad that didn’t pan out.
  3. High of only 79 today. The nw breeze arrived mid morning and was oh so lovely.
  4. ooooo that sounds lovely. I took off work next week for the kiddo's last week of summer before school starts and was looking at what day we wanna go to Hershey.
  5. Okay so some tweets I’m seeing about sneaky overnight tornado threat is real? I am northern MD…
  6. .54” weather station, .8” rain gauge
  7. They really said that? That's a shame. Just because there were no confirmed tornadoes as of yet, doesn't mean the severe threat was a bust.
  8. For sure. Could have been much worse than it was. My people at the dance studio were asking me all sorts of questions, what to look for on radar for tornado threats, how to read velocity. Was pretty funny to me that they actually wanted to know all the nerdy details. I am incredibly glad we closed Monday night, could not have imagined having a dance studio full of kids, parents traveling and such. Two other studios in the area stayed opened and we heard they had families trapped for hours because they just couldn't travel home.
  9. I read CPT's PWS from yesterday -- lot of straight line wind damage, but they did find some clusters of intense damage in southern York they were going to investigate further today. Didn't say where, I wonder if it's the Glen Rock area.
  10. Kiddo and I ventured north into PA. Had to turn around once in PA and take 83 as York Rd was closed in PA. So many trees down everywhere. Numerous on houses, lots of large branches and trunks cut up along the sides of roads, power is completely out in Shrewsbury and Stewartstown. Never made it west towards New Freedom, too many roads closed. Giant and Walmart in Shrewsbury were handing out water and ice, taking cash for non perishable items.
  11. I heard they were heading out to Glen Rock, Shrewsbury over towards Stewartstown. Friend sent some reports in to WGAL from Stewartstown and they said NWS would be out today
  12. I have friends in Glen Rock and they said it was mayhem. Just a mess. We closed the studio again tonight, most of the area in and around Stewartstown doesn't have power, and we've heard from quite a few of our families who are all dealing with cleanup in their backyards. Definitely a large area along the MD/PA line all dealing with the same mess.
  13. Bad. My drive from the house to Hereford was nothing but downed trees everywhere you looked. Can only imagine what things are like once you get off the main roads. Coworker who lives in Freeland said it was equally bad at his house. Shrewsbury/New Freedom/Stewartstown area is a mess. Rotation went through Glen Rock, again a total mess.
  14. it wasn't terrible overnight, boring but not awful. but i knew she'd be bored out of her mind today if we had stayed home, so had her pack a bag and she's on her ipad while i get some work done. Mr map stayed home with the dogs, will keep us in the loop on the power situation. He and I barely slept, but at least the kiddo got a good night of sleep hahaha.
  15. Kiddo's camp is closed today, so we packed up and went to Hunt Valley where my office has power. So many trees down in Parkton. Power was out as far south as Hereford before we jumped off York and got on 83. A coffee from CFA never tasted so good.
  16. Still powerless. Thankfully it’s less humid out so opening the windows is quite nice in the house
  17. My favorite clouds. we were incredibly lucky at the house. Just debris and some smaller branches. Every neighbor around us has bigger limbs and branches down
  18. Mammatus clouds! Neighbor three houses north lost a shed. Coworker in Shrewsbury has a tree on his house.
  19. Yeah big rumbles. It’s a mess in my part of Parkton. Hearing trees down all over, up into PA. Neighbors all around us lost trees and limbs.
