  1. In the 80s almost all our snows of 4"+ came in Jan and Feb. There were a few March events like in 84 and 87 but very few December events. Dec 84 had something around Christmas followed by a major warmup
  2. And Larry's newsletter didn't exactly sound enthusiastic about a return to winter in the east
  3. Half those winters were about to have at least a moderate to major snow event and/or a turn to cold. In a couple weeks I think this winter will be #1 or 2
  4. I had barely an inch of snow and mostly sleet with that one too
  5. Yes I shoveled almost 6" of sleet on st Patrick's day
  6. All week he's been saying winter's returning to the east in a couple weeks

  11. Big storms are usually sniffed out 10 days in advance.
  12. The gfs is good at sniffing out storms 10 days out but its usually not close on the placement
  13. Gotta head west...unless you like having drinking water of course

  15. True but it was all in one month. 13-14 was a more classic prolonged winter. We just needed March to produce in both cases
  16. 2013-14 came so close to being the best ever
  17. No that was the big surprise mid November storm. Around 6"
