  1. I have a freakish Oak that is like 95% green. You can see it in the pic-- weird. It just won't change.
  2. I happen to live in a random thicket of Oak and Beech, so it's not totally representative of the area in general. I took this shot below about a mile away at like 750'. Hillsides are pretty bare, not full on stick season quite yet, but my woods are probably more anomalous honestly that the bigger picture feel.
  3. Definitely behind here a bit on leaf drop. Top pic is 2019 and bottom is today on same date. Or maybe 2019 was a bit early, who knows.
  4. Can't escape the paparazzi anywhere I guess...someone blew up his hiding spot. https://nypost.com/2021/10/29/alec-baldwin-seen-exchanging-clothes-at-ralph-lauren-amid-rust-investigation/
  5. I redid a few areas in AUG with a TTTF/KBG mix and definitely went to heavy on the seed. Came in way too thick and now overcrowded in spots and lighter green in cooler comapred to the areas I seeded a little lighter which are much darker and healthier. More is not always better. Oh well, it will thin out over time.
  6. Skeeters were outrageous tonight at my daughter's soccer practice around dusk. Need a frost ASAP.
  7. Most consider KBG the "king" of lawn grasses for a number of reasons and it probably is, its just the hardest to get established by far.
  8. Yea, with as many Oaks as you have mulching would be tough because Oak leaves are huge and hard to chop up small enough. I mean, I mulch mow when I can, but I also bag leaves too and have a backpack blower when needed.
  9. Not true Kevin, mulching leaves will barley change the PH, the benefits far outweigh any tiny PH change(adding organic matter, organic fert). Only thing with Oak leaves are they are a pain to mulch mow compared to like Maples which chop up easier. I mulch as much as I can and bag mow when it gets to thick.
  10. Lived in San Diego for about 10 years, vividly remember it once with insane thunder, but think that was the only time IIRC.
  11. I was at Lake George alot last fall and it was defintley behind my area in SVT even with the latitude difference they have. Haven't been this year, but from what you said, they are behind again as we defintley have some color now, but not what you guys have up north obviously. Maybe its somewhat normal? Although 2 years prob not a great sample size...lol.
  12. Don't think there has been much frost outside of the primo Rad spots.
  13. Not sure, but looks like a broadleaf weed, so should be easy to kill i think with regular weed be gone.
  14. Guess it's time to switch seasonal mode as that scan from PF makes me want to break out my pics from a few years ago of the that Lake Effect Champlain band I drove into...
  15. Your definitely the king radiator of the VT crew, probably got down to around 32-33F-ish would be my guess 36.9F here.
  16. Even pre Covid, most people I know around here(full time residents) are not expecting central AC because so many don't have them. Honestly having central AC had minimal impact on pricing I think. I remember looking at like 30-40 houses and maybe a handful had central AC. It is certainly a nice to have, especially with increasingly dewy summers, but around here it is almost a novelty, like having a pool. I would love central AC, but don't even remember it on our wish list when house shopping. Maybe I was in the wrong price range--sub $1 mill..lol. There are definitely is an uptick in the mini split route it seems around here.
  17. Yea, on paper, the US looks really potent for the next few Ryder cups because of their age. Like was mentioned in the broadcast a few times, Ryder Cup is built into European players DNA, so we'll see what happens in 2 years over there after this smashing the US put on them. Ryder Cup is one of my favorite sports events to watch--especially when it's close. Although this was fun too..lol. ...
  18. Lol, I was thinking that. And also wants some decent retention too. Maybe we see a new Cocorahs station pop up before winter?
  19. Yep, same town. Be interesting to know why she chose there specifically.
  20. Don't think there was a rain total you didn't question in SNE all summer...lol. My Davis is normally within a couple hundredths of my stratus on almost all events after I did a little calibration. I kind of know what your mean when I look locally at some PWS at times, some seem maybe off a bit at times, for the most part they seem OK. Plus the differences could be pretty drastic over short distances during convective season.
  21. Mitch has a new 2k neighbor... https://www.reformer.com/news/actor-susan-sarandon-home-stamford-vermont-berkshires/article_f482c3be-1bde-11ec-8c77-cf560a0dc056.html
  22. I know there are some guys around here that have some go to skin spots on EQX, no idea where exactly. But yea, toll road would make the access little easier. I looked a house a few years ago at the base of equinox in the 1500' range deep in the woods, i recall a trail literally out the backdoor, not sure if it was "off grid" or not. I have some friends that ride over that way all the time. Never been on a Snowmobile, need to tag along one of these winters with some friends that have them to try it out.
  23. The higher elevations of Dorset and Mt Eqx definitely get more than 90" of snow, my seven year running total average here is 97.1" Now, I'm also measuring every tenth of an inch and really not missing anything, but you can see how in the 1500-3500ft range would certainly be more. The biggest issue by far would be the retention, which just sucks east of the spine, even at elevation on Mt Eqx and the hills around Dorset.(Although total snowfall is prob lower too) If there were ski hills at EQX and Dorset, below 1500' would be a struggle for natural coverage some years. Mt Eqx actually does pretty well on blocked upslope flow, but again the whole Taconic range in SVT can torch all the way to the top. Stratton, Bromley, Mt Snow, Magic, Okemo, etc all have MUCH better retention and do better on big east coast storms with E/SE flow for the most part. Every time I look at Equinox it just screams potential, regardless of snowfall or retention.
  24. In the valley spots around here as well it's really bad, lots of brown-ish/dull yellow with ALOT of leaves already down from fungus/stress or whatever. I'm not going to full DIT and saying the whole season is shot just yet. I can't quite tell yet how the 1500-3000ft hillside zone will be-may end of being OK there--too ealry to tell. But, around town, its kid of fugly to be honest at the moment.
