  1. Canaan is a nice little ski area. I’m glad they’re getting some real snow for a change after several lousy seasons.
  2. This winter is testing my patience, especially after last year. In the middle of January, I shouldn’t have to go all the way to northern NH to see a nice storm and decent skiing conditions.
  3. So are we going to once again punt all of January?
  4. I'm thinking of going there this weekend, but I'm not yet certain. Conditions sucked on New Year's weekend, but if they get 12"+ from this storm then that should certainly help. I don't want to pay for a lift ticket at Cannon or Bretton Woods, but if conditions are a lot better on those mountains then who knows?
  5. Since I’m a transplant, for social and career reasons I prefer to be close to Boston. Based on climo alone, I think any of the ski towns in northern VT would be ideal.
  6. Oh man, I just noticed that today, and you’re in a warning. That’s two solid storms almost back to back, hope you’re enjoying this!
  7. That’s just what I was going to say. The early January curse or period of boredom is a real thing. After Jan 15 or 20th it gets a lot better. I don’t know why but it’s been that way for so many years.
  8. I was overweight a few months ago, but then lost 10 lbs since Election week. Hoping to keep that up.
  9. I did! Got my first few runs of the season at Wildcat today. Pretty far north but that's where the best snow seemed to be. And of course social distancing comes naturally on the slopes.
  10. So this has been reduced to a strung out POS, hasn't it?
  11. Some seriously impressive rates in North Conway. Measured 5” around an hour ago, still coming down heavily.
  12. Seriously though, what an incredible run. More than 24 hour duration in the hardest hit spots.
  13. If the RGEM actually verifies then it might be the most snow I've seen in 20 years per time spent tracking. I've hardly paid any attention to this system.
  14. Up in North Conway now, looking pretty good for this area. No snow yet.
  15. I booked a motel at North Conway and reserved two days at Wildcat. This should be a fun weekend, can't wait!
  16. I vaguely remember seeing that Foxboro received 2'+ from Dec 2003. I think one of the TWC mets was there. It would've been a good time for me to live where I am now.
  17. I'm considering a weekend ski trip somewhere in NH, especially since they allow fellow New England residents without too much trouble.
  18. December 5, 2002 at 32:12. The start of an excellent winter. I even remember when the forecast was initially for snow showers, before getting better and better as it got closer.
  19. Why? Last winter was atrocious here in SNE, but I enjoyed some really nice powder days in Wildcat and especially Stowe, because up north it was much closer to normal.
  20. I knew those runs the other day didn’t make any sense. Glad to see some much better trends on the latest guidance.
  21. It was right around this time last year when it became clear that 2019-20 was going to be a dead ratter.
  22. Seems like that run has a 50/50 high instead of a low. It would be comical if it verifies like that, but at first glance I am skeptical.
  23. I find it hard to believe that it would be a SNE rainstorm with that track and strength in early January.
  24. Is there any good climatological reason why early January has usually been such an unimpressive time for storms for most of the last 20 years? Even worse than December. Of course 2011 and 2014 were exceptions, but more often than not the first half of January has been a lame period ever since the turn of the century.
