  1. Look at all the forecast teleconnections. All of them will be the complete opposite of what we want. And those brief windows where we might get a ridge in the west, or some other reprieve from the hostile pattern, any chance of any storm working out will be a long shot. How much did it snow in March 2010?
  2. Time to close the curtains on winter. Tip is right.
  3. I've got it. Seriously though, as others have pointed out, the gradient is absolutely astonishing. Makes it hard for me to figure out how well my old home has done, but I'm just about certain it's somewhere between @nw baltimore wx and mappy. Probably just over 20" and right near the climo median. Maybe @Jeff B can clarify. On another note, the map looks a bit low for @losetoa6 location.
  4. Those conditions were pretty common in the southern PA ski areas where I learned, especially Liberty and Roundtop. Lots of very icy days.
  5. March is definitely coming in like a lamb.
  6. Damn, I wish I didn’t have to work today. I’d be headed straight to Stowe otherwise. Looking great there. Hopefully Saturday delivers something decent.
  7. I was at Stowe this past weekend. Great conditions, especially Sunday.
  8. If models have spent so many weeks giving false hope, then let’s hope they’re wrong again. March tends to surprise.
  9. The GEFS is looking dreadfully dry and boring. Same with the EPS to a lesser extent. What kind of upper level setups should I look for to see stormier patterns? Anything but a big ridge or a crushing PV?
  10. Is it just me, or is begging for spring in late Feb onwards a very mid-Atlantic mentality?
  11. There was that nice storm signal on the 0z Euro for next week. Not sure if this run will still have it.
  12. I'm looking forward to it! I was in 8th grade the last time they came around, and it's been a while. I plan to be back in MD for April into May.
  13. Only for a few days. Then the GFS breaks it down and goes very +
  14. Coldest in 6 decades? You mean to say that mid-Feb 2016 had colder temps in SNE than 2015, 2014, 1994, or the late 70s?
  15. I think he recently reported 51” to date. More than my spot in SNE. Seems like the gradient this winter is even more ridiculous than 2013-14. Of course it is normal for north and west to do better, but the differences seem abnormally steep this year. I feel for the I 95 crowd, especially near DCA.
  16. You're beating Boston and a good deal of SNE. How deep is your pack? Looks impressive from your pics.
  17. It still seems a bit low from what I know. Doesn't BVT average 80-85"?
  18. So are we on track for the warmest March since 2012?
  19. 2021 has the potential to be one of the best years of my life. I'm hoping it's the year I get engaged. As for the weather, March is looking really damn warm especially in the first week. If only last spring had that warmth when the lockdowns were just getting started...
  20. Morch 2012 was good because it made it easy to move on from the miserable non-winter that preceded it. But normally there's no way in hell that I'd want 80 degrees from March 1 onwards. For me that can wait until May or June.
  21. I was at Gorham and Wildcat in the third week of March 2019 (when I still lived in MD), and stopped by at Mt Snow on my way back home to MD since it was a powder day. During that trip I completely forgot that spring had officially started, and the snowpack had to be at least 3' deep around Pinkham Notch. Not to mention some bitterly cold days up the mountain. Unless it's a debacle blowtorch like March 2012, winter will go on for many weeks or months to come up your way.
  22. With all this talk of a warm March, will this winter end as suddenly as 2009-10 did after the “Snowicane”?
  23. This has really been a Jersey winter. They’ve gotten buried almost constantly, including today and quite possibly next week.
  24. Wow the mood has changed so much in just the past week.
