  1. Final here was 3.9 seasonal total now 28.3. Busted low but overall this winter is still solid for me. Average cold, sustained snow cover and snowfall near average for the date.
  2. 3.9 inch final tally here, 28.3 for the season. A B- so far, 34 days of snow cover and a white Christmas and average to slightly below average cold No complaints with this winter, was expecting 6-7 but we've had almost non stop snow cover since the January 19th 8 inch storm. On To Thursday for here, doubtful Tuesday night reaps much for those of us to the N & W.
  3. Saw a report of 2.8 inches in Central Park at 10:40. If that verifies it at least puts them at 10.1 for the season Two single digit totals in a row was a first, would be nice for them not to make it three in a row.
  4. 3.5 inches as of 11 PM, 27.9 now for the season. From the look of the current and future radar 6-8 is not happening, 5 will be a stretch.
  5. 11:00 PM, first and last measurement of the night 3.5 inches, 25° and moderate snow, now at 27.9 inches for the season.
  6. That would be so out of character, they always seem to place such importance on getting out there right away for accuracy
  7. Really for the February 25/26 2010 only 8 inches. NYC had 21, I thought you're west of NYC? I know the gradients were crazy for that storm. In Highland Mills in Orange County I got 35 inches and 30 miles to my east at the same latitude in Danbury Connecticut, I think they ended up with 8-10 inch's, because it rained much of the time. That was just an odd storm all around, it rained in Vermont while they were getting heavy snow in Manhattan.
  8. The largest snow I've seen in Orange County was the February 2010 storm with 35 inches in a 24 hour period. I was picking up stuff at Walmart and Home Depot less than 24 hours after it ended. Using that as a worst case scenario, we really can't survive without food in our homes for 24 hours? It always baffles me when I see any kind of panic buying which you don't see nearly as much up here, but for the transplants you still do.
  9. 22 Degrees cloudy skies, the smell of snow in the air. Give me 5.6 inches of snow this storm to get my seasonal total to 30 inches and I'll be content, for now at least. Throw an inch of sleet on top to preserve the snow cover, even better. 33 Days of snow cover so far this winter, my minimum criteria is 45 days for an acceptable winter, so well on my way. As opposed to most that just like to chase the big snow, give me normal to below average winter cold and snow cover and several 4-8 inch events per season and I'm happy. The milder winters with one 20-30 inch blockbuster that melts in a week, you can keep.
  10. I cant stand the Mid Atlantic maps, what's happening in Delaware, Maryland and Cape May is of no interest. There's 2 other forums for those regions.
  11. I would say the best snow continues to be interior SENY, orange , Putnam and Dutchess as is more often the case. Coastal SNE more often than not does poorly on these, no better than the northshore of LI.
  12. Good, it makes up for all of the times the last several years, and throughout history, they didn't even bother measuring events less than an inch. They took a lot of heat early in the season for the BS low measurements, seems like they've gotten on top of it the last three events, if you can call them that.
  13. Those people should look at a map. If you use geography as the guideline nothing in New York state would be considered Mid Atlantic. Maybe extreme southern Jersey and Southern most Pennsylavania you could make the argument.
  14. 7am measurement 1.3 inches, 23.2 for the season. Snow cover now for 30 days this season so far. Temperatures normal or a little below for two months, as much as some complain, and rightfully so in many areas, I don't have much of a problem with this winter so far.
  15. The dryness is getting annoying, and dangerous too. We need precip.
  16. Low of 2 above this morning. Broke the consecutive nights of 0 or below. To bad tonight looks like it will be close.
  17. From the sample of comments the last day we have finally entered the age of snowdeprivation insanity for those in the city south and east.
