  1. 11:00 PM, first and last measurement of the night 3.5 inches, 25° and moderate snow, now at 27.9 inches for the season.
  2. That would be so out of character, they always seem to place such importance on getting out there right away for accuracy
  3. Really for the February 25/26 2010 only 8 inches. NYC had 21, I thought you're west of NYC? I know the gradients were crazy for that storm. In Highland Mills in Orange County I got 35 inches and 30 miles to my east at the same latitude in Danbury Connecticut, I think they ended up with 8-10 inch's, because it rained much of the time. That was just an odd storm all around, it rained in Vermont while they were getting heavy snow in Manhattan.
  4. The largest snow I've seen in Orange County was the February 2010 storm with 35 inches in a 24 hour period. I was picking up stuff at Walmart and Home Depot less than 24 hours after it ended. Using that as a worst case scenario, we really can't survive without food in our homes for 24 hours? It always baffles me when I see any kind of panic buying which you don't see nearly as much up here, but for the transplants you still do.
  5. 22 Degrees cloudy skies, the smell of snow in the air. Give me 5.6 inches of snow this storm to get my seasonal total to 30 inches and I'll be content, for now at least. Throw an inch of sleet on top to preserve the snow cover, even better. 33 Days of snow cover so far this winter, my minimum criteria is 45 days for an acceptable winter, so well on my way. As opposed to most that just like to chase the big snow, give me normal to below average winter cold and snow cover and several 4-8 inch events per season and I'm happy. The milder winters with one 20-30 inch blockbuster that melts in a week, you can keep.
  6. I cant stand the Mid Atlantic maps, what's happening in Delaware, Maryland and Cape May is of no interest. There's 2 other forums for those regions.
  7. I would say the best snow continues to be interior SENY, orange , Putnam and Dutchess as is more often the case. Coastal SNE more often than not does poorly on these, no better than the northshore of LI.
  8. Good, it makes up for all of the times the last several years, and throughout history, they didn't even bother measuring events less than an inch. They took a lot of heat early in the season for the BS low measurements, seems like they've gotten on top of it the last three events, if you can call them that.
  9. Those people should look at a map. If you use geography as the guideline nothing in New York state would be considered Mid Atlantic. Maybe extreme southern Jersey and Southern most Pennsylavania you could make the argument.
  10. 7am measurement 1.3 inches, 23.2 for the season. Snow cover now for 30 days this season so far. Temperatures normal or a little below for two months, as much as some complain, and rightfully so in many areas, I don't have much of a problem with this winter so far.
  11. The dryness is getting annoying, and dangerous too. We need precip.
  12. Low of 2 above this morning. Broke the consecutive nights of 0 or below. To bad tonight looks like it will be close.
  13. From the sample of comments the last day we have finally entered the age of snowdeprivation insanity for those in the city south and east.
  14. Not sure what area you're referring to but most of the area not much north and west of the city saw a widespread 5-8 inches four days ago. It's a big area.
  15. I think it depends where you live. In a more urban setting I get the hatred it's a pain in the ass, disrupts everything and usually looks like shot after a couple of days. In less crowded suburban or rural settings there's nothing like it. I judge my winter grades more by how many days of snow cover I have than by what falls in total.
  16. 5 above now, -8 and -6 the last two morning. Looks like a repeat coming up.
  17. My wife had RSV last year and for a couple of days it was pretty scary. Fever over 104, I took her to emergency. Once they got her to 102 with fever reducers they let her go. We were there maybe 5 hours. It took her a good two to three weeks to fully recover and she's active, athletic, eats well and all that. You should probably see a doctor tomorrow just to find out.
  18. Well That's not promising. Maybe we can break the norm this year.
