  1. 8.4 inches, 52.4 now for the season, 69 days of snow cover, and three months in a row below average temps. This Winter is trying it's best to get an A. It's getting close.
  2. 8.4 inches, Eastern Orange County NY. Been under the band near the Hudson the last two hours
  3. 6 inches under the best rates I've seen this season, including the 16+ inch storm in January. 2 inches the last hour, 27.9° with heavy snow.
  4. 6 inches even at 11:15, 2 inches in the last hour sitting under a heavy band in Highland Mills in eastern Orange County.
  5. Some years it just wants to snow. This is one of those years.
  6. As for measuring since this storm will include two calendar days. My protocol, and I believe it's the current guidelines, is take a final measurement at midnight. Log it, clear the board, and then take another measurement on the board tomorrow when the storms over. If there is 6 inches tonight, board is cleared and 9 inches tomorrow, the storm total should be recorded as 15. Even if for arguments sake the new snow depth is 13 inches when the storm ends tomorrow. Does everyone agree with that?
  7. Can't say yet but it could be one of those storms. Long way to go though. HRRR had it snowing still at 2 PM tomorrow through most of Orange.
  8. 4 inches even in eastern Orange County NY. 28 moderate snow.
  9. 4 inches even at 10:15. Was pretty surprised it was that much. Coming down at a nice steady rate. 28 degrees.
  10. Thanks. I figured that's what he was referring to.
  11. In the words of Tom Petty, they won't back down. Good to see.
  12. The King has spoken. "So let it be written, so let it be done".
  13. I believe almost all of NNJ had a foot or more. I'd have to go back to look at the final totals though.
  14. But yet forum wide there was 11-18 inches. A few exceptions on the shore and CNJ.
  15. And therein lies part of the problem. People have been calling this a historic storm now for 24 hours before even a flake falls. I'm not even sure what the word historic means anymore, to break into the top 20 the city needs 15.4 inches from the storm. Would that be historic? If they get 15.3 is that not historic? They got 11.4 inches last month so if they get 11.3 is that a bust? I get the excitement and I hope it is a great storm, but people calling a storm historic before anything happens.......

  17. I posted a list of the top 20 all-time on the February observation list. There are actually 68, 10 inch snow storms in New York City since they started keeping records in 1870. Sarcus was listing just a more current list.

  19. There's actually 68, 10 inch or greater snowstorms in NYC since 1870. Did you cut off after a certain date?

  21. I really can't recall either. I don't really look for them knowing what they technically mean, I can do without it. Like you I'm not a big fan of the wind. Give me 20 to 30 inches of snow with a calm wind and I'm good. I don't need the blizzard warning, like so many seem to need on the main thread, to justify a storm.
  22. Blizzard warnings Orange and Putnam. Not a big fan of wind but I welcome 1/4 mile or less of visibility with open arms.
