  1. I still find it so disappointing the way 2010/2011 seemed like it was on its way to break all the snowfall records and just died. Still a great winter overall for most but the last six weeks a big disappointment for many.
  2. The one difference I would note and I'll use the last storm as an example. When I cleared the board at 10pm I recorded 15.8 inches depth as the snow had ended. The next morning there was another 0.5 so I added that for a storm total of 16.3. I'm sure if I measured depth that morning it was probably closer to a 15 inch depth.
  3. That line should be back up to the Mason Dixon line by the weekend, but an impressive week for those areas not used to this.
  4. March is usually two distinct periods. The first two weeks in March in a typical winter you can usually expect to still have snow on the ground here, the last two weeks a different story. If you get it then it's usually not sticking around too long. Of course you do occasionally have months like March 2018 which you alluded to. I had snow on the ground virtually the entire month, but of course from March 2 to April 5 I also had 50 inches of snow, not exactly your typical March.
  5. One of two decent events that winter in what was otherwise a D winter. January 7th-8th 2024 event was 9.6 inches in Highland Mills. Parts of NW jersey, Places in Orange County northwest of me, and Dutchess county were in the 12-14 range from that event.
  6. @The 4 Seasons43.0 even. Highland Mills NY
  7. 34.2° here. So be it, the streak is over and I'm actually glad. The talk in the tabloids was getting a little ridiculous. This wasn't exactly January 1961 or even January 1994 for that matter.
  8. But many of us don't live in NYC. The normals in Orange County today are 35/15, on Feb 28 they are 41/20 a big difference from the UHI. Bring on a snowy February and March and let's stop talking about Spring on Feb 2. We're in the middle of a decent winter for the first time in four years, can't we just enjoy it.
  9. Maybe in urban and shore areas I doubt for the whole forum.
  10. Things evened up February 25-26 2010 when NYC received 21 inches and much of the HV west of the Hudson received 25-40 inches. I received 35 in Highland Mills the biggest storm total I've recorded here.
  11. Let us know what you end up with. It looks like the heavy stuff stayed offshore for the most part. Northern areas doing a little better. They're still predicting up to 20 inches for eastern Newfoundland but I can't see that happening either. Maybe a foot.
  12. I've waited to long for a stretch like this with deep snow cover and sustained cold so I'm still enjoying it. Give me another month to six weeks of this and I might be ready to cry uncle.
  13. Would be a shame to lose it to one hourly 33 degree reading this coming week but that's probably what will happen
  14. The trend east never stopped. Even Nova Scotia in danger of missing most of it now.
  15. You should have moved to Newfoundland, they seem to be ground zero now. Could this F'n storm disappoint any other regions? 87 pages and the entire northeast US may not see a tenth of an inch out of it.
  16. Myrtle Beach 23 right now and moderate snow. In the last 100 years you could probably count on one hand the number of times they've had temps in low 20's with moderate snow falling.
  17. Was zero at midnight and then the clouds rolled in and that was that.
  18. Disappointing this morning. Was 0 at midnight and then the clouds rolled in. Was up to 5 by 7 am.
  19. 1.8 above. Not gonna get anywhere near -10 at this rate.
  20. 4.1* light breeze. sub zero is a lock, if we stay clear and get winds to zero and we go -10.
  21. Nice city Halifax, spent several days there last June. Explored the Cabot trail and spent some time up in Sydney. That area and of course the Cape Breton Highlands look to be ground zero for the Atlantic provinces. Enjoy your time there. Permanent move or temporary ?
  22. We've gone this far to see one 33 or 34 degree day next week would actually suck.
  23. Bottomed out at 0° this morning. I would fully expect all non-Urban and non shore areas to go below zero tonight, if skies remain clear and winds calm. I would expect a lot of double digit below zero in the forum area tomorrow morning in the usual colder spots.
  24. I bottomed out at 0° this morning. 0.3° to be exact. With clear skies, calm winds and deep snow cover, I would expect the entire northern forum to be below zero tomorrow morning. I would also expect to see many double digit below zero. I might be wrong, but we shall see.
