A half inch now but Snow has falling lighter now.

Something I have truly missed about living in Kingsport, and I'm not being sarcastic, is being able to see it absolutely ripping snow up on Bays Mt, with Rain/ snow mix just around 1000' feet lower. 

 

 

Don't know if this one will work or not, but I can actually see the snow above my head, but most of it is melting before it hits my elevation ~1300 feet

Probably looks like static to most in this lo res gif,  but if you have good eyes you may be able to see. A few flakes bade it down, but a wall of snow about 500' up

Snow has ceased since an hour ago. Of note though the condensation level is almost at the surface now making for a freezing fog. Temperature is stable at 30. I've got a little over an inch of 10:1 maybe 8:1 initially from the squall line and preceding and trailing showers. The backyard has maintained a layer of snow for nearly two weeks and has a geologic history of deposition and "metamorphism".

Just got to Hixson. It was 36 with light snow when I left my house. It's 64 here.

There is a pretty extreme temperature gradient across East TN right now from north to south. It’s 64 in Chattanooga, 52 in Knoxville. It’s 42 at MRX, and 38 at my house about 20mi NE of there. Then it’s 35 in Bristol. Almost a 30° temp swing from north to south. We get some pretty good gradients from time to time but this is one of the biggest in awhile for sure!

Amazing to see a road that I run on almost every day...show up in the newsfeed.  Photo number one for the win.  That was an intense band today, Holston.  One of these days you are gonna pass me while I am running.  Just look for the slow guy who is in his 50s w/ glasses!  I don't wear plush running gear.

So you're the guy I passed running there recently that looked like Clark Kent. 

That was an intense band. I'd bet there for a bit it was at least 3" per Hour Rate.

All kidding aside… he might be in one of the best locations for snow other than above 3000 feet in the mountains. It really does snow there a whole lot more than just about anywhere else in East Tennessee. You can see the snow up on the ridge tops there from Oak Ridge pretty easily.

Historically that's prime Time we got Big Snowstorms but, our Luck this Year it'll find a way to miss one way or another. 

    That System Yesterday and last Night dumped 4-6 inches in Southern West Virginia and Tazewell, Bland and Craig Counties in Virginia. Had that System been 75-100 Miles further West we'd all faired well from the Plateau East. I wound up with 0.7" here from from this System.
