Another bitter a.m. with -10's/-20's across MN into N WI. Wind chills have running up to -40. Temps should finally improve a bit this week with avg temps by the weekend. WOOO HOOO!!

Since we just eked down to 0 this morning, MSP now forecast to have 10 consecutive calendar days with lows at or below zero by Saturday. And 14 out of 15 to close the month.

Not atypical for MN but (somewhat surprisingly for me when I first saw this chart) the equivalent of 3-4 seasons worth of below zero temps for the southern/eastern parts of the sub.

With lows in the -sd's/lower -10's, this thread can be over, thank God.

Funny, I was gonna suggest the thread be extended until at least 1/31.  Down here in the lower lakes the cold looks to peak around Fri/Sat.

Forecast is showing multiple days of lows at double digits below zero.  That is impressive down here in the banana belt.

Also a ton of daily records are in play for CLE's CWA.  Most records for 1/30 and 1/31 are pretty low hanging fruit (example CLE -4 on 1/30, -5 on 1/31) so some of these could be clobbered by 10 degrees or more.

Guess I didn't realize it was still that cold down that way. Not paying attention with other stuff I've been doing. Stay warm
