The Vantage Vue said 3.8 inches, but I’m not exactly sure on the total amount, as a leaf got stuck in the Vue yesterday afternoon and caused me to miss some of the accumulation. BooneWX Posted October 11 Share Posted October 11 Rough day in the foothills. Lots of damage in both Burke and Caldwell counties. The dam at Rhodhiss is now open, which will spell even more damage downstream. I haven’t seen this lake in such rough shape outside of Helene. I went down to the neighborhood docks a bit ago and it smells awful - not a sewage scent but a rotted plant/earth smell. Furniture, trees, you name it coming down the waterway. It was clearly closer to freezing outside of my neighborhood though because I saw frost as soon as I got a half a mile from the water. Barring any super strong front, it’ll prob be mid-Nov before my station sees freezing or lower. Quite a bit of smoke on the water though (hits guitar solo), so the step down process is underway.
