Maybe we can at least say a Winter Storm Watch and likelihood of a warning is an improvement over the last few years. Used to be a few advisories every year and 1 or 2 warning level events. But, it’s been so long.

Three(3) for me. And highs of 33 and 34 on Monday and Tuesday under full sun. Whatever falls will have staying power.

My pont forecast shows:

.61 total FR

2.3" snow

Sleet is not totaled but happens from 7am sat- 4pm Sun.

I got 1.6" snow

.95 freezing rain

Sleet predominant or mixed 10 AM to 11 PM Saturday.

Wind gusts low 20s at height of freezing rain....

Would be a catastrophe if that comes to pass. Actually terrified of the 100'+ oak trees around my house in this instance.

I hope everyone has a generator, source of heat, plenty of snacks/supplies/water, and flashlights/blankets/candles.

I had to stop by Lowes in Statesville for non-storm related stuff, but lady at checkout said they were out of generators already. They might get more, but that gives you an idea. If anyone needs one, I would start looking around soon.

Looked like holiday traffic on US 21.

Yep, places are packed. Glad we got one, even though its a smaller one it will take care of heat at least..

Little rant: We have a -NAO. Strong high pressure. Plenty of moisture for once. Plenty of cold air. And we can’t snow? It’s just so frustrating to see what could have/should have been.

I wonder if the super warm Gulf temperatures are causing even more WAA

I did have a brief convo with a ATMS professor at UNCA about the warmer climate and how the Gulf being warmer than it was 30 years ago could be a big contributor to these small differences

Idk about yall but I’m glad it’s going to miss firmly to the north. I can cope more missing it by a mile. A Virginia storm would’ve hurt but with a couple more ticks, Virginia is getting a devastating ice storm and we may go unscathed.
