Just drove through torrential rain on Rt. 30 east of Mountville. Water running everywhere.

Yeah my buddy said he had the tiniest bit of heavy rain near Marietta Avenue and it immediately started running everywhere, ground just has no tolerance for it around us.  Hope it's a not a bad scene later and the storms move through in a quick manner.

I remember praying for cold due to how insane the mosquitos were by the end of September. Couldn't go outside in normal clothes close to sunset. The swarms reminded me of Canada boreal forests

There's actually been some crazy fungal infections popping up in the hospitals that are not generally seen in our area.  My buddy's been in the hospital for a couple days with some kind of a fungal infection that's attacking most of his organs, including his heart. I don't think it's really made big news yet but I i think this might be something we'll be hearing about In the coming weeks. My understanding is this could be a health risk that we're not used to dealing with around here.

I've seen more fireflies this year than any time in easily the past decade

Last year the dry weather killed the nymphs before before they could initiate simple or complete metamorphosis . Lightning bug nymps need ground moisture to complete these processes. This is a pretty good lightning bug year but I don't think it's the best in a decade but i'm not going to argue with you about a bug lol. It also really depends on where you're at.

As bad as Lee was, the placement of that line of training storms couldn't have been better.

The Susquehanna is the largest river basin in PA, with the widest river channel. Had that event taken place 50-75 miles east, the Delaware would have had to handle the brunt of the water drainage, to which the disaster, I believe anyway, would have been much worse

I don't know as much about western PA river basins, but I suppose that might have been worse, too.

I never really thought of it that way, but you're probably correct. I don't know if it means anything, but seeing that alot  of western pa. flows into the Mississippi drainage make me assume that they can handle some pretty big water out there.

And nevertheless, it's pretty cool that you're observant of these things, lightning bugs are just another thing that I evaluate to score my summer. Cicadas, katydids, lightning bugs frogs, crickets, storms and the periodical cicada. remove any one of these from Pa summers, and I would probably move somewhere else or hang.

I think it would have been completely irresponsible if a watch hadn't been issued. At least down here, our flash flood threshold was .50" of rain in one hour. The potential for much, much more was very real.

No. I agree with you. All indications were for heavy rain, so the watch was warranted. I was just being a smart ass.

Good. I wasn't trying to be a jerk, either.

I know. Just wanted to clarify. I see the storms blew up northeast of me...again. Scranton and the Poconos are getting it good again as I type this.

My area has been pretty snakebit this past month.
