Why so many more than Morgantown? Wow! According to this, from 1880-1882, Pittsburgh had 105 days at or above 90F, while Morgantown had either 8 or 4, with only a handful of missing days? Morgantown did later go through its own heat island period for a time in the next decade, where it flipped the script and became a powerhouse of 90 degree days. In 1893, at the height of its ascent, it surpassed Pittsburgh by a whopping 35 days in that metric!
RitualOfTheTrout
Enjoying the summer so far, it's been a great season for the pool this year. Warm water just about all summer (thanks to all the 90s). Pretty decent lightening show on the way to work this morning. Summer is cruising along. The older I get the less I look forward to the end of summer and fall and the start of Winter and he Holiday routine but don't worry I'll be in top form by November . This Farmers Almanac outlook would be sweet if it verified (probably as likely as the 384 GFS)

With that track record, I wouldn't put too much stock in it.
TimB
Although many of us saw rain today, PIT has so far seen just a trace. This ends the streak of completely rain-free days on the official record, but honestly I’m not sure measurable rain at the airport is anywhere near a sure bet this evening. The airport ended up with 0.79", all coming in less than an hour. They had a nice cell, not much larger than the airport itself, pass right overhead. I only ended up with a few hundredths of an inch. blackngoldrules
Just wanted to share this with you guys since the weather hasn't been all that active here except for the occasional storm. We do have a nasty hurricane out in the Atlantic, but it's going to mostly be a fish, with some wind impact on the east coast, but nothing here.Anyway, being the weather nerd that I've always been, even as a kid, I had a watch as a kid that had a thermometer in it. It was a Casio watch from the 80s. I loved that watch. I felt like I had a little weather station on my wrist. It was way ahead of it's time back then. Well, I found this baby on Ebay in great shape and for a pretty reasonable price. Works great. I feel like a kid again. Lol OK, back to weather talk. TheClimateChanger
Do we get some rain tonight? I have barely accumulated a quarter of an inch this month. Seeing a lot of early leaf drop and grass looks worse than even last year.
TimB
Be interesting to see how cold we get on some of the colder nights in this pattern (tonight and/or Friday night in particular). The last time we got to 48 in August was 2014, the last time we got to 47 was 2013 and the last time we got to 46 was 1987. The lower end of that range is probably out of reach tonight, but could be in play Friday night. No records are likely in play, and in fact we have yet to set a record daily high or low in August this century.
