The conditions were brutal the day I did. Howling winds and and soaked fairways. Hard to give an honest assessment. I played it as part of a single day tournament back in April. A decent course. Some very cool holes. I can definitely see where it was really cool 100 years ago. But by today’s standards it’s just got a nice location.

The holes by the water were cool. Short part three right on the water If I recall correctly.

(Tournament length) 200 yard par 3 over water 175 yard par 3 along water par 4 along water par 5 along water that required a 200+ carry over water driveable par 4 over water was coolest hole
DavisStraight
When we go to Cooperstown we play at the Otsego golf Club, nine hole course, one of the oldest in the country then we play Leatherstocking, there's one hole with an island tee box, 90 degree angle dog leg left, you can hit it 150 yards straight to the fairway all the way to over 300 yards way to the left, I always took an easy route and hit in the middle, the farther your drive the close to the green. They close the course on Induction weekend to the public, only the big names can play that weekend.

Golf courses must not be off to a great year with all the rainy weekends. 2 months, at least down here pretty much down the tubes. A lot of momentum is built early. Chrisrotary12
Mentioned in May thread but my Saturday AM tee time has been cancelled 5 times in 8 weeks by weather.

You can never make up full for bad days but it’s been good to be busy when you can.
Chrisrotary12
Strongly recommend Lake Sunapee Country Club if you get the chance. (Played it today) Donald Ross design. Huge fairways. Decent sized greens. Pretty simple track if you are playing well. Hardest hole is definitely the 235+ yd par 3 12th. Which plays up hill. I had to hit a full 3 wood to get up there. And we were playing 1 up from tips. Chrisrotary12
The Oaks Golf Links in Somersworth, NH is a bear of a course. Fastest greens I’ve played this year by far. The course frustrated a lot of good golfers this past Monday. Off the tee, you almost don’t have to hit it over 250 if at all because most fairways run out at that number. It’s real defense are small, well protected greens. It was tough to confidently hit into them when most of them were protected by a bunker in front and a cliff off the back.
Harv_poor
Question from a Marylander. End of July we will be in the Eastman / Dartmouth area for a few days. Wondering if any of you can recommend a decent golf course or two in that area? I may be able to get a tee time, via my club, at Manchester CC but that seems to be a good hour drive. Thanks

I looked at Eastman earlier today as my relatives have a house by the lake and are ECA owners. Weird to see aeration in mid-May and not late March /early April. Will look into Lake Morey. There is often snow on the ground or it’s too muddy. Mid-May is standard in NNE. My course did the same and you can’t tell. Eastman is a fun course. It’s a more modern design than Lake Morey. Lake Morey is more of a classic old New England design. The resort itself is sort of a throwback too. It has a beautiful location on the lake. In the winter there is a 5 mile long skating track on the lake.

I’m not sure what your budget is but here are some more choices in VT. I’ve played these and they are nice Quechee has two courses, the Lakeland Course and the Higland Course https://quecheeclub.com https://www.woodstockinn.com/do/things-to-do/woodstock-country-club

All of your suggestions look interesting. Which I had more time to play more. I am an avid, but not a good golfer, and all the courses look like they would be fun to play.
