Buffalo Bumble
Looks like San Diego weather in BUF for several days starting on Friday. Hope it holds. Maybe an extended period of heat too starting next Tuesday? I wouldn't mind some HHH days to begin September with a possible tropical system to track under a building eastern ridge... Friday Sunny, with a high near 74. West wind 5 to 13 mph. Friday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 59. Saturday Partly sunny, with a high near 78. Saturday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. Sunday Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Sunday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. Monday Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. AppsRunner
One of the met majors here got a great shot of a waterspout just offshore early this morning. There's some better ones from him somewhere else on facebook, but here's the NWS BUF post: https://www.facebook.com/NWSBuffalo/photos/a.286879488008413.84365.253013624728333/1106786536017700/?type=1&theater

I think we hit upper 70s at one point but just a few miles inland was a little warmer than that. Cooling off nicely, down to 69 right now. I'm excited to see when the new Mesonet site gets added to Oswego's campus, it should be nice to see another station for data/research around here! champy
What a difference in the start/end of summer. Record rain in June and now we've been dry and hot and consistently sunny going into September. Nice that we salvaged at least half the summer. AppsRunner
I am enjoying the AC in my dorm room. Absolutely scorching the past few days even right along the lakeshore. I practice a couple miles inland and when there's no wind it's brutal. A few chances of rain this week especially with the cold front moving through. Doesn't look like it will be particularly strong and forcing looks generally weak so I think mostly inland areas will see rain rather than lakeshore. I'm just looking forward to the cooler weather. Did you guys get hit today? We've been getting numerous reports of thunderstorm wind damage from Oswego, Livingston and Allegheny counties. If you know of any damage please let us know here. Sorry for the late response, but yes we did. Pretty impressive storm, there was a 75mph wind gust somewhere in Oswego. Highest I saw from our tower was 43mph, but the 4th floor observatory certainly looked a lot more impressive than that. There was a lot of tree damage in town and around campus too. I think the most impressive damage we saw was on top of the building I was in at the time. Hopefully insurance covers the cost! Here's a picture I took. Nothing impressive, but the view of the storm moving in was really cool to see.
AppsRunner
We've seen some pretty good Lake effect/enhanced rain with the leftover synoptic moisture south of the lake.
