N. OF PIKE
I wonder if the worst winds will miss hatteras to the west? Not really sure what the true movement of this thing is ...even since It approached Cape Fear it started to look more like a bunch of erratic wobbles averaging almost 55-60 degrees and now its more 35-40 degrees I would think this would start to weaken a few hours after exiting hatteras based on water temps 26C and below just NE of outer banks
BuffaloWeather
Looks like some intensification is going on and the eye is tightening up again. Also looks like it is wobbling north. Yep, Hatteras is about to get raked with the right quadrant of the eye that looks to be intensifying. I bet we see some 100 + MPH gusts there soon. icebreaker5221
Water is nice and warm in the sound Yes, about as non-disruptive as a "landfall" can get, when you consider the fact that the core is still over warm water... and even the surrounding land is very low friction / low elevation. icebreaker5221
They might miss the worse of it by 5-10 miles? Possibly, going to be a close call. Jim Cantore has a better legitimate shot at the true eyewall if he's still in Waves, NC a little bit up the Banks.
