  1. Had an amazing thunder storm last night around midnight. Most frequent lightning in years. Very heavy rain as well. .
  2. I have 0.35” from multiple rounds this evenung. I was hoping to hit 5” for the month but will fall just short. .
  3. That’s so funny. I am actually 4.37”. Berks and Lancaster counties have been the winners over the last few days. .
  4. 0.56” here in the heavy shower . Just west of me got clobbered in berks county. .
  5. It is definitely far worse in Florida! Yeah, today and tomorrow are awful, but every day is suffocating down there in the summer. We just had several days in the 60s this month. Central Florida is definitely worse than the coast where you get some seabreeze, but it is punishing down there in the summer pretty much every day. .
  6. Thankfully, we got minimal rain out of this today. 8 1/2 inches last month and 3 1/2 inches thus far this month. In contrast to fall and winter, we do not need any rain anytime soon! .
  7. Got a quick 1/3” at home from that batch, but my actual location during the storm near Costo Allentown must have been at least an inch. It was a torrential downpour and heavy storm. .
  8. Quick 1/4” of rain from this line of showers and tstorms. Already sunny again! .
  9. I ended up with 3/4“ rain. That was a torrential rain and then fizzled hasn’t moved east of my location. .
  10. Pretty good rain in these thunderstorms up here in the Lehigh Valley. .
  11. Pretty intense shower moving through with gusty winds and heavy rain. The sun was just a figment of my imagination! .
  12. We were so dry during the fall and winter with a huge deficit that the ground has been absorbing all of this rain during the spring without any creek flooding until today as you said. It’s been like a sponge. Happy the groundwater is certainly recharged now heading into the summer. I’m happy for the farmers in the Valley as well. Thankfully, it’s going to be in the 80s next week and sunny for a few days next week. .
  13. 1.73” for the event and 8.33” for the month, not as insane as a number of you for the monthly total, but still insane! Mid 50s with wrap around rain this morning on the backside of the low is just odd. This is the strangest May I can ever remember. .
  14. 49.9F and about an inch of rain for the event (regional precip total map a lot more uniform for this event than just about any other event this spring!)A lot less rain over the next 7 days but still lots of clouds unfortunately. We need a week of dry sunny warmth. .
  15. This sure beats 20,000 years ago when the continental ice sheet reached the Poconos and what is now NYC! SE PA was tundra. .
  16. I was so curious while at work what my weather station would register for that storm (I have an older model, not connected to the Internet, only wireless to the base station.) Just got home and 1.72”. It’s certainly not normal to be at 5” rain mid month! Hope the line to the west disintegrates before it gets here as we really cannot absorb anymore water. .
  17. 58f with steady rain this am and up to 1.17” for the event. We did have some heavier rain for a bit. It looks like we’re in this wet pattern for a while with only brief breaks over the next week. .
  18. 0.43” rain throughout the day, despite an unimpressive radar representation for the most part. The trees and vegetation are doing very well this month, but we still have a longer term precipitation deficit in these parts. Thankfully we are chipping away with that. .
  19. It is a strange spring with such variability of precip totals over short distances. You are either in it or not this spring. .
  20. 1.31” overnight thus far, which beats my 1.00” all last weekend. Mighty cool at only 53.6F this am. .
  21. 59f - Moderate rain -0.16” so far. It will be interesting to see how the precipitation continues to develop along this frontal boundary. .
  22. Well said, and I largely agree with everything you’re saying. The forecast have been increasingly inaccurate over time. Like you said, it is a very broad type of forecast. And we are in this specific area of the valley in a very interesting micro climate. Overall, we get a boatload of rain on a yearly basis. We are either getting flooded out, or we go into dry spells as we have recently. Today, even small components of the forecast were very inaccurate. We kept the stable east wind flow right up until about 3 PM, which continued to work it’s magic to keep us very dry. I just finished work and I’m coming home soon, but I’ve been following the radar as much as I could this afternoon and I’m not sure we got more than a 10th of an inch at home. .
