  1. Nice! Got 1/2” here in my gauge as I did well after I posted my message. . Waiting for it to stop to take the dog on a walk.
  2. I would say likely not based on nowcasting. Up here in the SW Lehigh Valley I have received around 0.10 this far and the back edge is swinging through central PA. Forecast was around 0.75”.
  3. I am curious to see if we will actually receive the rain forecasted for Saturday with that very cold Easterly flow.
  4. Winds turn around to the south between 6a-8a and we should see some steady rain then. Yeah, wicked back door front.
  5. 0.86“ of rain for the event. We got very little precip and no severe weather on the front end, but a good amount of precip on the back half. We often head into spring with a rainfall deficit, but not this year.
  6. Snooze fest this evening. Was hoping for more action. Just some showers, and nothing too heavy here. Northern LV seems to have gotten some heavier showers. .
  7. Officially down 20 degrees now. Still windy but nothing crazy. 0.20” rain from the line but rain has stopped. Glad I stayed up for the it but disappointed no lightning at all.
  8. I can appreciate you’re in a tough spot. You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. My fear is that after today the public doesn’t take the next watch seriously and life-threatening severe weather does happen. The message tomorrow in every break room and social media feed is laughing that nothing happened.
  9. Went down 15 degrees in 5 minutes here and still dropping. It was a good gust front with brief heavy rain.
  10. I am at 61.3° on the edge of the front. It better be worth be staying up for this tonight as I have to get in early to work tomorrow. [emoji3]
  11. I have wondered about AI influence as well. Our approach to forecasting nowadays seems less local.
  12. I thought the cold front would have a more impressive radar representation on approach. The line is fizzling out a bit, but the snow behind it looks impressive. Hope we can cash in for an inch or two.
  13. But the low cloud cover was the result of the easterly flow. A southerly flow is not enough to completely remove the marine influence. We have low 40’s water temps in the Atlantic. I still contend the forecasts this time of year rarely get this right.
  14. I understand that, but it was an Easterly flow until the early morning hours. I have observed often in the past as a lifelong weather weenie that unless flow turns solidly from the sw in these situations, we never get the instability needed for severe weather. The ocean is too cold this time of the year and that influence lingers in these situations and the forecast rarely takes that into account.
  15. I mentioned last night that often in March and April these dire severe forecast are busts. They do not take into account the cold easterly flows that precede the warm front, and unless you turn solidly SW after the front passes to clear out all that ocean influence you end up with a bust. Well, the bust happened yet again, which is good as nobody wants tornadoes wreaking havoc.
  16. I would’ve thought there would be a more active radar presentation at this point, but we shall see. It’s interesting that there’s nothing along the actual front.
  17. I wish the flow would turn more sw earlier in the day to remove the maritime layer. Until then drizzle or light showers at best. Hope I am wrong and look like a fool. [emoji3]
  18. Perhaps I am wrong, but based on experience I tend to be highly skeptical of these forecasts when there is an easterly flow off the very cold Atlantic ocean. That is a stable air flow in March. The forecasts stubbornly have rain tonight. It likely will not happen until the flow is southerly (later in the am.) Hopefully the action heats in the afternoon, but I have a hard time believing we have anything beyond mist until then.
  19. No accumulation in my backyard in Macungie, but in truth it really never got going. 1.01 inch of liquid precipitation since last night though.
  20. 0.49” in that round. Hope to get more tonight. I am mentally converted to full spring weather with showers and thunderstorms, but unfortunately winter is making a comeback.
  21. Heavy rain and rumbles of thunder. Pretty neat for March.
  22. Think I will be scraped by the line but no direct hit. .
  23. The million dollar question is if that line of showers in central PA makes it here. [emoji3]
  24. Nice soaking heavy rain this evening. Happy to see all the salt and snow wash away. Ready for spring and gardening. Wish I could report on a precipitation total, but my station is a little wonky tonight. Guessing I’m between a half to 3/4 of an inch of rain today.
