Looking to get a second set to add to quiver.  I am between a Elan Rip Stick 96 172cm and a Salomon QST92 168cm  I am 5'11 215 lbs.  I already have an Armada Declivity 82ti 182cm.  I am looking for a ski to make it easier for me to enjoy the glades with my sons and as my go to for our first trip out west .  Obviously I'll mostly be skiing on the NE (PA/NY/VT).

Thoughts on these two or potentially others for me?  I'd say I am an advanced skier that doesn't look to do anything crazy.

I already expressed great admiration here for the QST92s that I have been skiing on for the past several years for everything from boot deep powder to hardpack, east and west.  The general reviews are quite good as well.  But you might consider a slightly longer ski than the 168s if you're 5'11". That sounds too short IMO.

It's all perspective.  The 80's left a lasting childhood snow impression on some of us.  If you're childhood snow memories are  post  1993 Superstorm, you have a lot less tolerance for anything below normal.

This-- growing up in Dorchester in the early 80s we don't wistfully think back on the snowy winters of our youth

  3. We still getting brandywine tomatoes, cherry peppers, anaheims, and scotch bonnets all doing great, dahlias blooming like crazy.  We did turn the basil into pesto by now... it doesn't love the mid/upper 30s... but most of the garden continues unabated for now, even as the last week has been slightly BN in the means.

Looking to buy a 2nd set of skis. Been skiing brahma's (188/88) last few seasons and I've always liked them, but wanted to try a wider ski, ~90s. I'm mostly an on-piste intermediate/advanced skier that'll ski mostly blue/black groomers, non-groomers. Can ski pretty much anything at SR except for the super tight glade stuff. Been considering the blizzard Rustler 9, Nordica Enforcer 94, Volkl Mantra M6. I'm 6'1", 155lbs and from what I've read, the Rustler would probably be best for me, but some reports of it being not as stable at higher speeds (2024 has full length metal edge so maybe better?) has me considering the other two.  I'd like to rip high speed GS groomers and the Nordica seems to fit the bill well. The Mantra, based on reviews appears to be a high charging heavy ski that at my weight may be more difficult to maneuver. Overall, I'd like a stable ski at speed, but still being able to execute quick turns on the steeper stuff. Any suggestions on these or other skis to consider?

I just retired a pair of Salomon QST 92s which I really liked en piste and off.  Great all mountain option and I am probably going to buy another pair.  They also have 98s as well.   All the skis you mentioned are quality though and most folks I know that ski Volks rave about them, so I wouldn't worry too much about the Mantras if you like them.

    I can't wait to turn our high 1st into a low 1st and 2nd in 24 and another 1st in 25.

If a top QB isn't on the board, trading for multiple high picks is exactly what a team with bare cupboards should do.  Gonzalez looks like a legit, top 5 caliber pick stud, but even injury aside, one stud (non QB) doesn't do much for you.  Then it's just a matter of using the picks correctly.

This is starting to get interesting. I haven’t really checked the models much over the past couple of days, but since I last time I looked the low location is more west than it was last time I looked. I don’t think a SNE landfall is likely, but the risk of the storm getting close enough to give us a lot of rain is increasing.

Sorry but at this point even if it rams straight up Buzzards Bay all you're getting is LBSE posts

I mean, San Diego got a Hurricane a couple weeks ago…Boring frieken San Diego..let that sink in for a minute.

Not really.  Just got back and it was totally meh there.  I literally saw a guy show another guy the never forget tipped over lawn chair meme, which apparently was new to both of them.

Decent gusts on mountain tops way inland and good rains in Palm Springs.

Anyone have the radar loop of this from Scotland to Scituate RI

Can't upload the loop but this was BOX closest scan of the cell near Scotland.  This is not the same as the cell that hit Scituate fwiw, and the velocity loop did not really show the couplet very well.  Not sure if OKX might have seen something. But as I mentioned a few days ago, I thought this was the best organized cell of the day, at its peak.

Just drove into Scotland CT, pure Tor path maybe 75 yds wide, near a 1?

Honestly I felt in reviewing the data that Scotland had the best looking storm of anyone yesterday from a radar perspective.  The Scituate tornado was a strong embedded spinup behind the leading edge but Scotland had borderline supercell characteristics.

Wow just fucking wow. This meso passed a half mile N of me

So the little couplet on the top is shown right over Byron Randall Rd where that TOR damage is.  Nice timing for the BOX lowest base velocity sweep.  Not your classic EF2 sig, but it is indeed there.  Low LCLs and strong winds ftw.  The red spot below at the intersection of 14 and 116 is just folding, not a couplet.  Maybe an area of slightly higher localized gusts.
